TKC MUST SEE!!! KCPT'S RUCKUS QUOTES TKC ON WORSENING JACKSON COUNTY PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT CRISIS!!!

Here's an important achievement for our blog community and our continued effort to report and analyze Kansas City public policy in a more forthright and hard hitting fashion than any other local media outlet.

To wit . . .

SPECIAL THANKS TO MIKE SHANIN AND KCPT'S RUCKUS FOR SHARING OUR PREVIEW OF DISPROPORTIONATELY HIGH JACKSON COUNTY PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENTS THREATENING KANSAS CITY HOMEOWNERS!!!

There is no more important issue confronting all of Kansas City right now and we're GRATEFUL that RUCKUS - THE GOLD STANDARD OF KANSAS CITY POLITICAL DISCOURSE is offering a comprehensive view of the situation.

  1. We can't let it get to that point. There is no coming back from kicking people out of their homes by the hundreds. Really hoping that a crisis can be avoided but it doesn't look like it if the county just avoids the problem. Also sending the improper bills out and telling people they'll be refunded is just not a good way for the county to handle their assessments.

    1. Jefferson City needs to step in. Absolutely no confidence in the county to do anything productive to help residents.

    2. ^^^ Hopefully.

They haven't done squat so far. Where's Crystal and Scott? they promised more help than this. It's easy to throw up your hands and blame Frank White. Much harder to just propose a solution.

    3. Buck stops with Frank White. He won't accept responsibility, so I say the blame belongs to him whether he likes it or not.

  2. Same thing happened in Detroit. This is how a community loses it's housing stock. This is how entire neighborhoods get cleaned out. It was always inevitable with this kind of spending and fewer entry level jobs that paid a decent wage. Frank White just helped to speed up the process.

  3. This is how entire neighborhoods get cleaned out? You bet... and the damage caused by Black officials... proving once again that Black faces in high places don’t mean jackshit. Look what happened with a nearly all Black jury in the Bothem Jean case in Texas. The same way Black people fail to show up for unwarranted, unjustified Black shooting victims is the same way they show up pretty much everywhere they are, including the Jackson County Courthouse. Fire Gail Beatty!

  4. The assessment process was a mess, the jail is a mess, the administration of the drug tax is a mess, and the legislators and county executive won't even share an elevator...if they worked.... I voted for folks who promised to clean house... and this is what I got.

    1. She did a great job, so did everyone who spoke out about it. What were seeing is theasy star become irrelevant in their reporting and more people step up. The more, the better.

  8. Jefferson City isn't you LOL this is a county issue not a state issue beside it's the people in Kansas City who voted all of these people in so what did you expect? You never learn. Voting has consequences.
