TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! TRACY THOMAS BLAMES SHAWNEE POLITICAL CONSPIRACY FOR 'SHAMING AND BULLYING' HER FOLLOWING CONTROVERSIAL 'BLUE JEW' COMMENT!!!

Right now we share a morning treat and an EXCLUSIVE quote regarding what might be a trick against former Shawnee city councilwoman, Tracy Thomas, who referred to a Kansas City apartment building as the “Blue Jew” during a meeting in early October.

The roundup from a toned down newspaper article behind the paywall . . .

Ms. Thomas made the comment during a public hearing on Oct. 7, voicing opposition to a luxury apartment complex, Stag’s Spring, proposed for downtown Shawnee. She argued against the apartment’s facade being an “unappealing” shade of blue, comparing it to the Meyer West Condos in Kansas City’s Brookside neighborhood.

“You know, in Kansas City, Missouri you’ve got what the, what people in Brookside lovingly call the Blue Jew, the eight-foot — the eight-story apartment building at Wornall and Gregory,” she said, referring to the landmark building at 333 West Meyer Blvd."

To wit and thanks to this friend of the blog  . . .

TRACY THOMAS SENT EXCLUSIVE & RAW WORD TO TKC ON THIS CONTROVERSY AND SHARED HER HOT TAKE!!!

Edited only for clarity and brevity . . .

"Any commissioner can be offended for any reason. They chose to try to shame me--and did not contact me.

"I have a First Amendment right to illustrate an aesthetic comment memorably. I merely quoted my Jewish friends in Brookside--it's THEIR terminology that I quoted.

"Planning Commission Chairman Dennis Busby asked that the phrase be redacted and the motion was rubber stamped by the other commission members. That's unprecedented in Kansas history, including Shawnee back to its founding in 1855."

Tracy offers a brief aside and equally outrageous exemplar . . .

"That includes the recent two Shawnee Council marathon hearings about LGBTQUIRTY--and the NDO which was jammed through without going thru the committee first. (A Soros backed strategy to gin up votes next Tuesday for council elections in Joco.)

"None of THOSE passionate comments were edited, excised or expunged--and some claimed gays were going to hell!"

Here's the crux of her argument:

"To expunge public testimony is a violation of a sacred tradition of transparent government. Public testimony is a legal document.

"This was a set up. Shaming and bullying the opposition to label us as "enemies of the state." Councils and commissions have succumbed to the Stockholm Syndrome--they have fallen in love with their captors. The captors are the developers who fund their campaigns and give them billboard signs on every taxpayer subsidized corner. And the other captors are the city staffers--who fluff the elected officials and tell them the homeowner/voters/residents are the enemy. They are brainwashed at National League of Cities meetings into believing THEY KNOW BETTER."

Now, the debate over dusty old suburban records that nobody will ever read is a distraction that nearly throws Tracy off track. The remark stricken from the record is simply a gateway to the bigger question about the American discourse and our personal, political landscape . . .

HAS AMERICAN ADHERENCE TO POLITICALLY CORRECT LANGUAGE BEEN EFFECTIVELY WEAPONIZED EVEN IN LOW STAKES SUBURBAN ZONING DISPUTES?!?

Consider . . .

Nobody is calling the comments from Tracy Thomas an antisemitic. The roughest criticism is that her remarks might be offensive because the words aren't polite and engaged in ethnic/religious labeling that's more appropriate in a stand-up/sitcom act and not a boring public meeting over building codes. It's clear Ms. Thomas was going out of her way to be provocative but there is no real malice in her poor choice of words. Meanwhile, the topic of a big dumb-ass building and its silly palette choice has been all but forgotten.

The lesson here might be that even suburban, low-rent, forgettable politicos can now leverage PC etiquette in order to gain the upper-hand in the most meaningless debates over inconsequential issues. And so, every facet of American life might now be informed by complex and evolving rules of language that do not apply equally and demand blind obedience for fear of enduring public rebuke.

You decide . . .

How the hell old is Tracy, I'm 50 and my Grandpa used that term for the building. When did she finally leave KC, 1963?

  2. I see what you're trying to do here TKC and it ALMOST works but the truth is that we should have decorum and rules in a public forum. Even you say Tracy's comments were unwise. If she was, in fact, trying to be provocative then she went too far.

That was far more than trying to :illustrate an aesthetic comment memorably." It was bigoted stereotyping and religious labeling. Unacceptable.

I hope Tracy Thomas wasn't invoking any ill will toward the community but in a public space debating government issues it's not just PC etiquette we're talking about but a more important discussion of how we should conduct city business.

Tracy's comments were out of line, they deserve to be stricken from the record and she should be taken to task for her words.

    Think about it.

"... A Soros backed strategy ..." Really? Can she prove this, or is she just being anti-semantic?

    & "... Stockholm Syndrome ..." Really?

This is the woman who called the Democratic Party the "whoreish party". Reasonable discourse is not her strong suit.

  6. As a Jew, I find the use of that term offensive.

The term “Blue Jew” did not originate in Brookside, it was used in the concentration camps in Nazi Germany to describe prisoners who froze to death during the cold winter nights.

That is NOT a lie, but I am sure, because I told the truth, I will be "cancelled" if possible by those cowards on the left, who seek suppression of the 1st Amendment by way of getting the camel's nose into the tent, with that strategy.

It is a light year past time, when reasonable people still sporting what is left of what used to be a modicum of compos mentis, took a far more strident approach to the menace presented by "The Fascist Next Door".

I worked in the "Blue Jew" for lots of Jews (All really nice folks, old as hell and very, very polite. Always paid their bills and were some of my favorite customers. JEWS!!! JEWS!!! THEY WERE JEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!). The insanity that we can't have reasonable discourse in public places without the "Thought Police Commissars" looking over our shoulder and squealing with delight when we are unaware of the Insult "De Jour" conjured up by some sanctimonious, Holier-Than-Thou recent Millennial graduate from a third rate commuter college should be OVAR!!!

The communal psychosis produced by the National Psyops initiatives now in place at the behest of Progressive/Fascist fucks is killing this country and that is the exact goal of those same Progressive/Fascist fucks.

Escalate to whatever point, unto violence the conversation when you are accused of crossing some imaginary, nebulous, inconsequential line that with every sin, degrades, diminishes and destroys you and this once great country by way of newly created "sins" from the newly minted Inquisitors/Commissars in every workplace, on every corner and in every work place.

    Fuck this.

Tracy, tell them, in real time, to their faces to go fuck themselves and shove that shit right up their fuckin asses.

The Council just reaffirmed its status as a laughable parody of a public body.

  27. I've lived next to that building for two decades and never heard that. It's always been the Blue Goose. Liberalism and its identity politics is a horrible, racist influence on people

  28. Skin is thin if non existent nowadays. We have the right to be offensive. We have the right to be offended. We do not need a collective gasp as if someone said a dirty word in church every time an offence occurs. Discuss it, argrue it, but don't let it become the subject. Stop and think how much is considered not to be spoken. Only the truly deceitful can skillfully navigate in this climate. Your conditioned compass may have been intentionaly compromised over time.

    ReplyDelete
  29. As an older person I am seeing more and more things that were referred to or called or heck how we did things 40 years ago as now being inappropriate when it's clearly a part of our local history. I don't always agree with Tracy but I don't agree with the actions taken against her as that was the strickening of Free Speech for retaliating reasons not for ethical reasons.

Might have not been the best words Tracy could have chosen to use but I remember when the so called original Blew Jew Building was called just that. Heck my grandfather couldn't hardly drive by it and not call it that. It was a modernist building for it's time and most people hated it's ugly facade. I have heard it called a lot worse than what Tracy said. But that was then and Brookside is a completely different style of people living there now. I'm sure many old neighborhood names are no longer in use.

That being said here is the issue I have of the city or any city removing any language or statements from any minutes already recorded from any meeting that has taken place. Sure they made this public simply to lash out at Tracy which more than one elected official over there has issues with. But how often does this happen that we the public never know about? Who decides what's to be striction and for what reasons is it to be allowed? What are the real grounds for this to have taken place to begin with? Remember, she didn't refer to a person, or a group of people, she was referring to an inanimate object that was called what it was.

Sure Tracy could have used better judgement on what she said but the city of Shawnee should have as well used better judgement before striking the words from the minutes. It's my belief this is going to result in the opening of a can of worms the city would have been better off to have simply moved on ahead from with no comment or actions.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Are they going to erase all references to the Golden Ghetto(Johnson County) and Perfect Village(Prairie Village). That building has been referred that by local people for 50 years and now you are going to get offended. The first time I heard that term used was by a Jewish person.

    ReplyDelete
  31. ^^^^^I call bullshit. I've lived in the area a looooooooong time, and I've never heard it called that.

  32. Isn’t the bigger issue here the fact that every time Tracy Thomas has something to bitch about, TKC devotes an entire column to her? Good grief that woman is a whiner. She doesn’t mind disparaging anyone and everyone, but when she feels wronged, TKC gives her free reign to rant and rave.

Having lived in Shawnee for years, I’ll just say that Tracy Thomas has quite a reputation here. She was at the City Council meeting last night, griping from the podium during Open Forum about the number of parking spaces in a proposed development project. Yes, parking spaces. Oh the horror of it all.

Quit giving her public air time and maybe she’ll just go away.

    ReplyDelete
  35. So, is the proposed new building going to be an eyesore like the blue jew or not?
