Show-Me Rail Transit Risk: Will Kansas City Owe Feds Cash If Streetcar FAILS?!?!

KC TOY TRAIN RIDERSHIP TOOK A NOTICEABLE DIP IN SEPTEMBER 2019 VS. SEPTEMBER 2018 and whilst activists tout securing federal funds. Here's a glimpse at the downside . . . Checkit:

Feds may want millions back if Loop Trolley goes under, official says

ST. LOUIS - The U.S. government paid for about two-thirds of the $51.5 million Loop Trolley, and if the streetcar line stops operating, the government is likely to want a significant portion of that money back. That's the assessment of James Wild, executive director of East-West Gateway Council of Governments, the organization that coordinates federal transportation funding for the greater St.

  1. I hope so. I hope the City owes so much money to the feds that they can’t see straight. It will force them to be on a budget for the next four years at least and with the economy starting to sour - they’re bonds/ratings will be worthless.

  3. Those who pushed this over priced folly on to the residents should be going to jail for fraud.

Amazing how the same group who probably hates Trump and think he should be in jail over wanting to see someone investigated think this train to nowhere was a good idea. I say let's investigate those who supported and backed it to see in the end who got kickbacks and financially gained from this joke of public transportation forced onto the taxpayers. After that investigation another should be started to look into the airport fiasco. Dirty money was spread around both times and you have to be punch drunk to not believe so.

    1. And yet you live in a zoo, Chimpy, which is a jail. Not weird.

  5. I like what Dave says about an investigation. People like 10:02 have those who need to be in jail all confused in their minds, and thats whats really weird.

  6. They really should be in jail for pushing this 200 million dollar scam. I'm glad the feds are putting accountability into handing out the money. Jesus, KC got suckered bad

  7. I wouldn’t worry about having to pay back the federal dollars on the KC streetcar project. Failure is contingent on the equivalent of operational bankruptcy. The system was never designed to bring in fares from riders so it will always exist as a “cost” on the city’s books. It cannot, in and of itself, fail.
