Hawley to Introduce Bill to Move Federal Agencies out of Washington D.C. to Economically Stagnant Areas | National Review

Days after squaring off online against "elitist" critics of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue's relocation of agency jobs, Senator Josh Hawley (R., Mo.) will introduce legislation on Wednesday that would move the majority of the federal bureaucracy out of Washington D.C. to economically depressed areas, according to a summary of the bill provided to National Review.

  1. If these agencies were little more than make-work jobs programs like much of KCMO and Jackson County government, this idea might make some sense. Moving do-nothing operations to CowPie, Kansas would just be another federal financial redistribution program.
But many of these agencies actually require individuals with advanced degrees, expertise, and experience, and the notion that they will all uproot their families and move from the Washington metro to some outpost of the plains of Montana is ignorance on steroids.
Hawley might want to wait to see just how effective the move of the Department of Agriculture to the KC metro is before he recommends his general migrations.

  2. Good points 6:32 - but the average Federal Employee (Most of them, sitting in cubicles doing fuckin zilch.) makes $122,000.00. The average private sector family makes $62,000.00.

D.C. is the one of the the three richest counties in the US.

Lets split them all up and let them spend tax payer money with actual tax payers.

  3. ^^You mad Bruh? Just because you've never made that much money in your life is no reason to slag those who do. Maybe if you had spent less time cutting and pasting stupid conspiracy theories all the time and spent more time developing a better work ethic, you wouldn't have had to keep working at your geriatric age.

  4. chuck, how do you know what these people do or don't do or how hard they work? Do you spend all day obsessing over shit like this? $122k in DC probably goes about as far as $60k in Kansas.

Comparison really does take the joy out of life chuck. You should move on.

  6. The first 7:54. Yes, that's right, we need to pay more cash out to the DMV workers who, will, in a short time, be running the "New Green Deal" and helping us all.

  7. So..., DC is NOT one of the richest counties in the US?

Hmmm... I guess I heard it here first. Those poor overworked Federal Employees who can barely make it to Starbucks for a 10 dollar coffee to have a conversation about "Race" and then get into their foreign cars and drive off to a really tuff day at work.

BTW, just saw, last month, when i was walking thru Loose Park, the new Mayor with the ENTIRE FINANCE DEPARTMENT, hundreds of people, a band and catered in Bar B Que.

It's a tuff life, i know, but someone has to live it.

  8. This is a great idea. I'm surprised it wasn't done sooner. Why not share the wealth and let other areas get some economic benefit?

    ReplyDelete
  9. 7:56 - do you think there is a DMV in the federal government?

Do you dimwits understand cost of living?

7:54 with a solid well thought out response.

  10. 8:21 = Blood sucking, Federal employee who is off at home on another holiday on the tax payer dime whining about not making enough to buy a house next to Obama.

  11. ^^You've perfectly describe chuck! Well done, well done!

  12. ^^^ 6:32 - Wow - did you know that people can think, reason, read, do math, and even get college degrees outside of Washington DC? It might also surprise you to learn that people get....wait for it....advanced degrees outside of of Washington DC. Those advanced degrees are in subjects outside of "how to be a racist", "conceal and carry", and "religion". Ponder that!

I'll forgive your ignorance though. I understand the idea of broadening your understanding of people outside of a 50 mile radius around Washington DC might be difficult. It might frighten you to see and hear people discuss things that you don't agree with. DC is one of the least diverse places in the US. Need proof - 90%+ voted for Hillary.

Washington DC has been the beneficiary of federal spending on steroids for the past 20 years. When that spending spiked post 9/11 DC recognized why businesses were relocating to the area due to that spending. It's now turned into some crazy thought bubble that there is some miraculous concentration of enlightened college educated workers in DC that just happened to blossom in a former swamp due to the great weather? It's just a coincidence that the highest rents and property values are directly linked to their proximity to the capital. It's for the view though - right - entirely dissociated with federal spending.

Grow up - live in the real world where jobs move, if you work for the government your subject to politics, and you aren't as special as your mom said you are.

  13. Hawley is going to earn his keep in DC if he keeps this up. How can any elected official not agree? maybe just the VA/MD elected officials. Suck it DC - your time is up............

  14. OUTPOST ON THE PLAINS OF MONTANA? Why is the swamp of DC any more deserving? Cause those swamp people know more about grasslands and ag communities than the people living on the plains? ha - ha - ha - ha

  15. ^^and yet not one Federal Agency will EVAR move from there. Weird.

  16. I like this idea. Spread out the gov't offices around the country

  17. Having people in the same industry located in close proximity can have benefits due to the easy exchange of ideas, but this may be less critical in the digital age. The downside of having so many people, particularly in government, in the same region of the country is that they develop group think.

  19. 11:56 ^^ No one ever questioned the courage of a keyboard warrior who comes to a Kansas City blog with the mission of protecting the interest of DC government employees and trying to sh$% on every aspect of our community. Job well done.

  21. The fact is, the lazy government pukes have a gravy deal in Washington DC where they can't get fired and really don't work that hard.

Hawley wants a return on taxpayer investment in government.

It's way, way past time to crush the Government Unions, which, are little better than the Mexican Cartels and bring the agencies CLOSE to the people they are supposed to be serving.
