Aftermath and tragic narrative from charging dox following a weekend face-off with police . . .
The victim armed himself with a wooden baseball bat and repeatedly told the suspect he wasn’t taking the family’s dog away from the home and needed to leave the home.
The suspect left and threatened to return with a gun. The victim told the suspect's mom he was going to take the family dog away from her home in an attempt to keep the suspect from returning. While inside the home, she heard the victim forcefully knocking on her front window, yelling at her to call the police and that Nelson had returned with a gun.
The suspect then shot the victim striking him in the leg and grazing his face. The suspect's mom pleaded for her son to stop shooting and leave while she attempted first aid. The suspect then walked away towards the victim’s truck where he pulled an M-16 style rifle where he came back and shot the suspect at point blank range before leaving on foot.

KSHB: The suspect's mom , who lives at the home, told police that her son had a history of mistreating the dog, as well as having angry outbursts and damaging items in her home.
