  1. Trump, Trump, Trump.

Please stop, we are sick of winning.

  2. The railroad hires people and puts them through months of training only to lay them off immediately after training is over, they’ve been doing this for decades. Moving the switching duties from one area to another usually means they’re going from a smaller yard to a bigger yard but it could also mean one yard is better situated and to handle the traffic.

  3. Trump's economy! We are winning so hard! MAGA!

  4. Railroad workers get laid off rehired then laid off again all the time and been happening for years. Nothing new here, move along minions and go speak more elsewhere about that which you know little about.

  5. ^^and yet they don't really get laid off all the time. Not at all. Weird.

As a current Union Pacific employee, some of your comments are correct. Yes, we get laid off from time to time, but no, "Trumps economy" has nothing to do with it.
The greedy fucks at the top of the corporate pyramid are trying to do much more with much less, at the expense of safety and peoples well being, to satisfy the shareholder. They are trying to cram operations from a yard that could handle 1300 cars a day to 2 yards that can barely handle 800.
Don't be at all surprised if a major safety incident occurs due to cut backs in the mechanical and inspection services.

  7. ^^^Trump's economy...Rolling back safety regulations is SOP dude. More money for them, none for you! If you voted for him, that's what you get! MAGA!

  8. You can't understand how railroads work if you are not in that life. Most of these guys have to report for work within a specific number of hours when called. It is difficult to have any family life if you don't have a position above front line worker. I know several people that worked for UP and BNSF and going back to the Frisco and Katy lines.
Now there is an urgency, because of the AMAZON effect of people "needing" (not just wanting) stuff today or tomorrow at the latest. To survive the RR's have to meet stricter standards imposed by the customers or lose the business to over the road truckers. This is not something personal towards the workers but the current yard system must be improved to meet deadlines and eradicate inefficiencies.
The auto makers have this problem too that is why the UAW is striking to get concessions on the number of employees they must keep at assembly plants, to maintain the inefficiencies in the plants. That way they force the companies to go out of the country when new plants are needed. The net result is that the automobiles will end up costing more and taking more money out of the pockets of the middle and lower classes in our society.

  9. Railroad staff do not EVER pay anything into social security. But they get generous benefits from the US government. I don't know why teachers or preachers cant get the same treatment, but that's illegal. its the ultimate in discrimination - you work with trains - you don't pay social security. Everyone else does!

  10. ^^^ Railroad benefits and Social Security benefits are not the same thing and do not come out of the same cost/benefit system.
    Do some reading, idiot.

  11. ^^ha!!! 12:15 tried to run ignorant, got called on it and got knocked the fuck out!!!!

  12. Don't blame Trump for this, The East Coast railroads have been dealing with Hunter Harrison's PSR clusterfuck years before Trump walked down those stairs at Trump Tower. Cut jobs, cut costs, fuck with shippers in order to make the cost ratio down. Short term gains, long term losses.

The bigest problem is Obama fucked the Coal industry in he ass with an AIDS infected cactus. Coal business was recession proof and it paid most of the bills for both UP and BNSF. Now that coal's decimated they have to rely on feast or famine Ag products and Intermodal to cover costs.

    ReplyDelete
  13. ^^^ But Trump brought back beautiful clean coal...

I'm glad Ag is there to pick up the difference, oops, another industry Trump has fucked over with his trade wars.

The Trump slowdown continues as we continue to slide towards his debt fueled recession.
