Olathe, Kansas: Armpit Of Johnson County???

After the jump we've collected two stories demonstrating our theory that Olathe isn't REALLY JOCO inasmuch as the good life of consumer bliss, low crime and good schools is concerned . . . OR MAYBE the entire metro is confronting a crime spike and the suburbs no longer provide sanctuary for the middle-class. You decide . . .

  1. If Olathe is the armpit, which parts of it certainly are one of them, it's because of the all the Mexicans. Excuse me, latinos and latinas. Let that sink in Anthony.

  2. I was thinking of another fold. Armpit is too nice for what Olathe is.

  4. Olathe is extremely religious and conservative so of course it sucks. City that size and nothing to do.

  5. Mission ks is worse joco city.

  6. Olathe is trash. I've never understood why houses are so expensive in Olathe. That place is quickly becoming run down and there is literally nothing to do out there.

  7. Lenexa and NW Overland Park are the armpits; Olathe and Shawnee are the dirty butt crack.

  8. Come on ... there is nothing wrong with Olathe. The schools are actually quite good, the cost to live there is quite low, the people generally aren't a-holes (like in a much of the 'good' part of Joco)... and as far as there being nothing to do -- anything in the KC metro is a relatively short drive away (but honestly -- other than pro sporting events, it's all basically the same stuff there is in Olathe).
