KANSAS CITY STREET FIGHT FACE-OFF!!! SHOW-ME INSTITUTE POLICY DIRECTOR PATRICK TUOHEY CHALLENGES BIKE/WALK KC EXEC ERIC ROGERS OVER 'MISLEADING' & 'UNTRUE' STATEMENTS!!!

It is EXTREMELY rare in Kansas City for political denizens to argue with one another by name and in public.

Even via social media, the plebs are free to peck at the ruling class but professionals are typically satisfied to try and kill one another with kindness.

Allow TKC a bit of celebration as a denizen of the local discourse throws down the gauntlet toward an adversary . . .

IN AN EPIC ROAST, PATRICK TUOHEY CALLS OUT ERIC ROGERS FOR MISLEADING AND UNTRUE STATEMENTS RELATED TO BIKING IN KANSAS CITY!!!

So that our blog community can judge for itself, here's interview with the cycling/pedestrian advocate . . .

Mike Shanin talks to Eric Rogers, Executive Director of BikeWalkKC, about KCMO Master Bike Plan misconceptions.

It was odd that the non-profit activist refused to offer even an estimate related to the number of cyclists currently on local streets.

Accordingly, the highlight of a discussion last night seized upon the Eric Rogers interview and a litany of local complaints. Check the verbatim transcript of this exceptional Ruckus roast:

Director of Municipal Policy at the Show-Me Institute Patrick Tuohey said: "A roast to Bike/Walk Kansas City who was on this program two weeks ago and giving misleading information about biking habits in Kansas City. And this is not an isolated event. They continue to make public statements and have things on their website which are demonstrably untrue. They appear to be unable or unwilling to properly interpret other people's research or their own. I understand that Bike/Walk Kansas City has a different advocacy for transportation but they will have no credibility in Kansas City if they continue to misstate the facts."

We'll tweet this out to both of them this morning and see if there's any follow-up . . . Until then . . .

You decide . . .

  1. it's about time somebody called out the bike activists on their b.s.

the phony stats and damage they've done on Armour blvd and Armour road is unforgivable.

  5. The fact that a little unrepresentative special interest group like this gets public money to allow it to afford an "executive director" is a joke in itself.
We're awash in all these special groups that DEMAND they get what they want regardless of the consequences to the public at large.
And it's way past time for some of these elected cowards to find the spine to show them the door.
The fact that the bicycle brigade could even mention the ridiculous notion that hundreds of millions of tax dollars should be spent on bike lanes shows how far in outer space these people are.

  6. Let's strip them naked, grease them up, and put them into a cage together with a piece of rebar in the middle of the floor. Whoever can shove the rebar up the other ones ass wins the argument.

  8. Progressive/Democrat apparatchiks just flat out lie, locally and nationally on a hourly, 24/7 basis and are NEVAR held accountable for the lies.

They get a pass from the press pack dogs in the media, whose pretense at "Objectivity" is risible to all but the Hale-Bop-Jim-Jones-Kool-Aide drinking whackos who think the world is ending in 12 years because of cow farts and cars. The Inside-The-Beltway national politics that euchres power and money out of the pockets of those not in the "club" plays out the exact same way, here in the city, where Progressives dominate the conversation and have a strangle hold on the megaphone.

If not for Tony's Kansas City, no one would know a fuckin thing about what was really going on in the "dirty little Democrat town".

THE MEDIA IS THE ENEMY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Councilman Eric 'Spandex' Bunch needs to be focusing on the real problems KCMO has. Failing infrastructure, poor to no trash pickup, residents water bills that are out of sight, and snow removal. If you think potholes were bad last year this year will be worse.

Eric 'Spandex' Bunch needs to withdraw himself from any discussions and allocation of any money related to Bike/WalkKC.

  28. No corporation or government today want's to be seen as anything other than "progressive" and they will subvert logic to do so. They don't have the confidence to counter progressive ideology so they simply accede the field to it. It's simply an economics decision - easier to buy off potential critics, and the tendentious media, than to confront them with appears to logic, rationale and common sense.

    ReplyDelete

  30. Was in NKC about 2 hrs ago. Exited off 35 to Westbound Armor. Construction everywhere. I bank near there and asked what the deal was. They said the bike bullshit is being extended East. This in the face of recent push-back from almost all drivers in Northtown. A real mess. If only govt would learn "if not broke, don't fix", but they never will because no money in leaving things (regardless of how good or nice they may be) alone.

  31. ^^^^ Good call.

I think people want bike lanes in certain places but they've rejected the idea that the streets need to be littered with them.
