Kansas City Star Helps Jackson County Executive Frank White Spread The Word

Angie Ricono and KCTV5 have simply outclassed and offered better journalism than the so-called Kansas City paper of record on the topic the Jackson County property tax assessment crisis and so the newspaper is stuck taking the counter-point and playing nice with the Courthouse.

There are even more motives and moving parts behind this strategy BUT it also has a lot to do with KCTV5 working out of JoCo and The Star still relying on tax breaks in KCMO . . . For now, here's a Sunday word from an embattled politico that subscribers actually have to pay to read . . . Checkit:

Frank White: Jackson Countians deserve attention on many fronts

Jackson County Executive Frank White During the past few months, the talk surrounding Jackson County has largely been focused on this year's state-mandated property reassessment process. This attention is understandable, as the issues related to reassessment impact every member of the community.

  1. Would have been nice instead of publishing this bullshit if the star had taken this opportunity to ask Frank White why he denied for more than a year there was a crisis in the jail after the first consultant's report called it one of the worst jails in the country.

  2. The Star has disgraced itself. This is the same Frank White who kept saying, "There is no crisis in the jail." Who also said, "Stuff happens in a jail." And he coldly called one rape in that jail "old news."

    1. That "old news" resulted in another lawsuit being filed against the county this week. Two women raped in one night by a murder suspect being allowed to roam the halls for hours, and Frank still has the guy who was running the jail when that happened on the county payroll.

  3. Hey Star, how about next time you tell Frank you won't publish his PR crap until he posts all the consultant reports, without edits, on the jail on the county website? He denied one's findings ("there is no crisis in the jail") for more than a year and redacted the hell out of another one. And we paid for both, but we can't find any of these reports on the website, which we also pay for.

I can tell you something I am getting tired of: paying for Frank White to have a PR team that writes this garbage, fluffs his ego and, instead of informing the public, just tries to protect his precious image.

    1. 7:56 I've always wondered what all these government "communications" people do. Now I know: spreading the crap.

  4. I did a spit-take running that line about an "honest day's pay for an honest day's work." Frank White started his political career with a lie the day he filed to run for office, saying he didn't owe on his taxes. As executive he has promoted people who lie. The collectors director helped falsify an inmate's defeat report when she worked in the county counselors office. He fired a man who would not break the law and promoted a woman who would to fill this man's position in the finance department. He gave fat raises to his cronies during a year no other county employees got increases. And he took a possible illegal loan to get out from under foreclosure. Or did he call that a "gift"?

    1. What's a "defeat report"? Next time get your first cup of coffee down before you start typing. But seriously that is some serious shit Frank White and his "team" have been pulling.

  5. If Frank White is in such a hurry to fix things, he ought to start by STARTING TO FIX THE ELEVATORS. Eight months just to get through the bidding process!

  6. Wow, some people say that the Star is a docile, uninquisitive servant of the local corruption calling itself leadership. Don't know where they're getting that after this hard-hitting bit of journalism.

    1. The Star shines brighter after this one. Make room for the Pulitzer on the mantel.

  7. Frank, if you really want to move Jackson County forward, then resign. Your being county executive has been a tremendous setback for us all.

    ReplyDelete
  8. And the word being spread is bullshit.

  9. The reason everyone is focused on the "assessment process" is because it has shown how corrupt and incompetent you are Frank. You get big breaks for your friends. McClain's mansion valued for less than a fifth its real value. This after he loaned or gave you money to avoid foreclosure. Meanwhile, thousands of poor folks who probably used to cheer for you in your Royals baby blues getting screwed blue by random value increases.

Of course, no one know any of these from reading the shooting Star.

    1. I hope the Star crashes and burns

    2. At this point I am almost embarrassed for Frank.

      And The Star.

  10. Resign you lyin asshole.

  11. Instead of playing catch-up to KCTV, The Star just falls further behind by printing this nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  12. So Frank White's PR team has moved a couple of blocks down from the courthouse to The Star building?

  13. Get into the residential foreclosure and tax auction business NOW it's going to be booming the next couple years.

  14. Well, this ought to make for an interesting county legislative meeting this week.

  15. I’m beginning to think gopher boi is working for Frankie boy and Jackson county with all these lies being spread around. Gopher boi and the star go hand in hand.

  16. So was all this ^^^^ the response Team Frank was hoping for?

  17. 8:54,I've lost all respect for the County Legislators if they keep approving budgets to pay for these PR hacks.

Everyone acknowledges that this will result in people becoming homeless (magically becoming mentally ill, drug users in the process).

As America's homeless numbers continue to rise, we will double down on the stupid, rather than lighten up on the unfortunate.

  19. The Jackson County voters elected a guy who was good at Baseball.

The voters literally selected a baseball player to run the county.

The voters drafted a baseball player to govern Jackson County.

The voters are idiots who will take you down with the ship.

You can blame Frank White for being inadequate for the task. But you must blame the voters for selecting A BROKE BASEBALL PLAYER to preside over the county government.

This is the legacy of Democrat voters.

Have any of you received your Informal Appeal letters from the county yet? I know I got my valuations reduced back down to normal levels. [Insert "Feels Good Man" reaction meme here] I will enjoy watching YOUR properties come up for tax auction in 3 years. Gobble gobble gobble.

People who vote for these Democrat candidates deserve what they get, that is to say they deserve to be penniless and thrown out on to the streets in 3 years.

Merry Christmas suckers! Enjoy those tax payments.

  20. Frankie boy is gonna spend time in the very jail he said there’s nothing wrong with, I hope he enjoys serving time in there for all the crimes against the tax payers. He deserves nothing less.
