Kansas City Ruckus Amid Good Deeds

A welcomed respite from the typical Kansas City political animosity, this week the crew running the GOLD STANDARD OF KANSAS CITY DISCOURSE offer a glimpse at some very good causes along with conversation among locals who, at the very least, have good intentions.

Check the description:

"Mike Shanin talks to Klassie Alcine and Alana Muller about the KC Common Good initiative. Chris Reeves, Gwen Grant, Laura McConwell and Dustin Morris discuss the upcoming vote on changing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard back to its original name The Paseo, KCMO's search for a City Manager after Troy Schulte announces his retirement and the stance of area members of Congress on impeachment."

Take a look:

  1. Troy did the right thing by stepping down. Have to give him that.

  2. So now we know that "The Gold Standard Of Kansas City Discourse" has feet of clay!

Hilarious to watch Mike Shanin's "inner Lindsey Graham" surface and smoke start coming out of his ears at the mention of the Impeachment investigation!

Can we just be honest and change the name of this farrago to "Yeah for Trump"? Or maybe "GOPus"?

    1. ^^^ I get what you're saying but you might not know that Shanin was a Conservative talk show host on local right wing radio about 5 years ago. Most longtime KC residents who follow the news closely remember his work at BZ. That basically just confirms what you wrote but I hope explains why, he is a conservative after all but I wouldn't apply that to the whole panel and definitely not most of the guests.

  3. The two male panelists both had shortcomings. Morris seemed somewhat bored and disengaged much of the time. Reeves kicked into Dem talking point bot mode trying to avoid the question about Rep. Davids. Kudos to Shanin for holding his feet to the fire Chris Wallace style.

This show was waaaaay to KCMO focused. It's fine to have a local topic but it's more interesting to have equal parts state and national topics since a ton of the metro viewers don't live in KCMO.

  4. Thanks, @11:31, I knew he was some sort of alt-right wingnut, but not the gory details. "Normally" (as normal as he gets) he can keep himself under control and act like he knows what a moderator is, but not on this show.

Of course, the alt-right is scared shitless by the idea that their little "12% coup" in 2016 is threatened, and are starting to realize that they're going to have a hard time convincing the "anybody but Hillary crowd" to vote for Trump now that he's a known factor.

    1. When is an actual impeachment starting by the way? Lol

  5. ^^^^Trump or for that matter any Republican will beat the pinko the Demoncrats put up for president. The Demoncrats besides being Socialist haven't a candidate that has the qualities of a leader. A thief child molester, an old commie and a lying annoying women do not make leaders.

  6. ^^^^ Thanks for proving my point, @6:06.

  7. ^^^^ No actual impeachment, this is about fundraising. Leftist donors are conditioning contributions on the political theater of impeachment proceedings. Unfortunately, foreign influence in American politics is nothing new. The Clinton Foundation was a major avenue to foreign influence in American politics. It's just a fact of Washington.

You think Ruckus is really GOPus? I'm afraid you're out of touch with reality.

Shanin is a Conservative, for sure, but for years the Ruckus program routinely staffed the panel with 3 Democrats vs. 1 Republican. It was totally lop-sided, giving Democrats the vast majority of speaking time for their weak points.

Finally, and only after presenting factual evidence of their imbalance, did they begin balancing each episode 2:2 and begin inviting more women and diverse panelists.

Nearly ALL media is dominated by politically liberal individuals. KC Star is a liberal echo chamber, KCUR/KCPT are staffed with nearly all Democrats, local TV news is part of the Democratic Party propaganda machine. The occupation of "journalist" is one of the most politically skewed Liberal.

  9. See folks, told ya! Scared shitless, desperate for diversion!

  10. That Shanin guy is old school, he asks a question and he expects an answer, not some bot talking point tangentially related to the discussion. He should have gone Terry Tate on that douche.
