Or . . . Don't spend Oktoberfest in jail!!!

Of course, hottie Jordan is the first inspiring thought that comes to mind when thinking about Germany . . . But other people aren't so optimistic . . .

For many Americans,  WWII still plays an active part in the pop culture imagination . . . It was was more than a half century ago but possibly represents the apex of American moral clarity.

Nevertheless, here's more current look at Euro efforts at reform all the way around . . .

KCUR: What Kansas And Missouri Can Learn From Germany About Keeping People Out Of Prison

Check just a bit of hopeful branding . . .

For people seeking solutions, the German approach offers numerous strategies that have dramatically lowered that country’s incarceration rates. It’s become a model for other countries to study.

“If we are successful in our treatment programs, it means we can reach the prisoner and he is prepared for the day after the release,” said Axel Briemle, an expert who spent years in administration in Berlin’s largest prison. “Everybody who does not return is a success story.”

Germany’s corrections system costs less per capita than America’s but gets better outcomes. It provides extensive training and decent pay for guards, dignified jail facilities, and a focus on rehabilitation and vocational opportunity so inmates have a new lease on life.

  2. Perhaps the ruling paradox of life in the USA these days. Saturated in unreality, the spectators (also called “voters”) flounder through a relentless barrage of narratives aimed at confounding them, with the unreal expectation that they can make sense of unreal things.

  7. Lynn Horsely lied that a meeting at City Hall was canceled when citizens were showing up to protest police treatment at the Trump Rally in March 2017. Horsely said, it was on her personal Twitter account that she leaked the misinformation and not on her Kansas City Star account ...as if plausible deniability is perfectly legit if you don't get caught?

  8. Yes lets follow the Germans, they gave us two world wars and a holocaust.

  9. Germany has problematic issues below the surface. Anyway, 100/100,000 prisoners is still to many people to lock up in cages. Lead poisoning is the leading cause of criminal behavior. Missouri executed a man last week who was diagnosed with lead poisoning. Even the police and guards down in the Bootheel have blood levels?
