US Census Bureau hiring hundreds in Kansas City area to help count 2020 population

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- The 2020 census is around the corner and that means thousands of new part-time jobs are available. If civic duty isn't enough to motivate you to help with the census, the salary just might. This is a big week for recruiting part-time census takers.

  1. $16.50hr is t near enough to get the hoodrats off welfare, it’s true, they can make $80,000 a year sitting at home with a couple babies. You people need to wake up and hear the truth. Stupid dummocrooks.

  2. I sure as hell would't go door to door in KC. Let the democrats do it. 16 bucks for a liberal life sounds fair to me.

  5. 7:33: Sources, please.

I worked briefly for the Census in 2009. The pay was low, no benefits, the office was designed by Rube Goldberg aficionados (to get coffee you had to go through a classified area, there were cords everywhere, we sat shoulder to shoulder, so hearing telephone conversations--our jobs--was difficult), and some of my fellow employees were a bit tough to take--as in loud and obnoxious--not all of them, of course, but enough to make an unpleasant situation worse.

So I can understand why it's difficult to find enough masochists to fill these jobs.
