Kansas City 39th Street Endures Despite Rising Crime And Developer Encroachment

We'd like to share and upbeat Internets movie clip with our beloved late night visitors and offer nothing more than enthusiastic approval . . .

Unfortunately, a recent public TV promo movie only displays the nice side of 39th Street life.

A few things they missed:

- The persistent Midtown KCMO crime threat and more home & car break-ins throughout the area.

- KU Med Center building boom that's pricing out longtime residents and transforming residential blocks with EPIC transient condos.

- Look closely at 39th Street . . . The party people are great but they distract from more than a few EMPTY and/or provisional storefronts we notice arising.

Now, back to the bright side and a really fun clip for our late night denizens . . .

Discover the soul of a Kansas City block one plate and one drink at a time. In this episode, Kansas City's West 39th Street establishments Meshuggah Bagels, Vietnam Cafe, Mud Pie Bakery and Room 39 are featured.

"The Block" takes viewers on a journey through Kansas City’s streets to get a sense of the people and cuisine – the fabric of KC's neighborhoods. But this isn’t just a food show. There's history, culture, and unknown facts about Kansas City. You’ll go inside kitchens, see how food and drink products are made, and peek into of the lives of everyday Kansas Citians working in the service industry.

Take a look:

Did they ever catch that hit & run driver who ran into the bar worker? That was horrible and something that surveillance should have picked up.

Prospero's is still in business? Thank heaven! That is a modern miracle in this day and age. Good for them that people still read books instead of just troll each other on the Internet.

Thanks to Petersucker and the incompetence at city hall, crime is expanding unchecked into all parts of the metro now, it’s getting worse by the minute around here because nobody is doing the job they were hired to do, protect and serve.

Get rid of these losers and MAKE KC GREAT AGAIN!

MKCGA!!!
