COURTHOUSE DEBATE BEFORE AMID JACKSON COUNTY PROPERTY TAX BILL TIME BOMB: POLITICS BEFORE IMPENDING LOCAL HOMEOWNER REBELLION!!!

Let's make this plain because a lot of local politicos are thinking about this in theoretical terms . . .

WHEN MANY JACKSON COUNTY RESIDENTS GET THEIR PROPERTY TAX BILL THAT THEY COULDN'T POSSIBLY PAY, THERE'S GOING TO BE AN OUTCRY KANSAS CITY HASN'T SEEN IN DECADES!!!

We're talking about forcing broke-ass people out of their homes, putting them on the street or in public housing at best . . . Turning homeowners into beggars.

It's not exaggeration to call this a time bomb because putting a great many home owners in a corner over sloppy taxes raised disproportionately will be one of the worst offenses committed against the populace in this town's history and a good enough reason to abandon faith in Democracy for people without anything more to lose.

Fox4: Proposals to reduce property taxes introduced to Jackson County Board of Equalization

Examiner: Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker also noted that State Auditor Nicole Galloway continues her audit of Jackson County, including COMBAT. “I don’t know what that audit will say,” she said, adding that she won’t be surprised if it’s also critical of the program. Baker did predict that Galloway will be attacked – unfairly, she said – just as White’s office attacked Baker’s office over the BKD report.

KMBC: "Those tax bills are erroneous, and they're flawed. They're based on values that we think were not based on facts. They didn't do the work. They simply didn't do the work, and the taxpayer is going to suffer," said Stacey Johnson-Cosby, a Center School District representative to the Board of Equalization.

  1. Rebellion????? Rebellion starts at the polls! Kansas City residents are the ones that voted for this time and time again! All they do is sit around in denial and say stupid things like WEIRD! Most residents have no clue what is going on they vote for party, color, and popularity. How superficial is that!
    SUCK IT UP!

  2. "We would be more inclined to take an opinion of our powers from an attorney than someone who is not licensed as an attorney," said Christopher Smith, the Board of Equalization chairman.

OH big bad Attorney himself Mr. Smith finally gives up the BIG SECRET of living in Killer Shitty.

Your not a licensed attorney so you don't matter and fuck off rube if you don't like it. We are attorneys and your nothing!

  4. I know it's Jackson County where corruption, shoddy work and laziness are all rewarded. But, someone should really be fired over this boondoggle.

  8. Tempest in a teapot. There will be a lot of shouting and political posturing, but when all's said and done, most people will pay the tax and get on with their lives. The interesting thing will be to find out how the county deals with the people who don't pay.

  9. This time is different! Folks I talk to, who never seem to get upset with this democratically run city are all of a sudden very vocal by this stupidity. I think the powers in our city government are likely to face an ongoing push back on about near everything for awhile. Maybe nothing can be done about frank white and his minions right now but the next few elections don’t count on easy wins for anything remotely associated with tax increases or spending by city or county government, or far liberal “tax and spend” candidates!

  10. 11:05 you want to know what they'll do if you don't pay? After 3 years they will send the sheriff to remove you from your house and then they will sell it. How much fun is that? Amen to the comment that government is the problem.
