CELEBRATE!!! JASON KANDER RANKED MOST POWERFUL IN KANSAS CITY!!!

Only the truly successful people in this world can manage the difficult skill of failing upward. Example: Jason Kander has transcended the limits of the workaday world and become a part of the American culture war landscape where stand-up comedians, pundits and cable news talk show hosts attempt to dictate policy by way of monologue and quip.

Accordingly, here's an entertaining, captivating and completely clueless bit of fantasy from a Johnson County magazine that mostly serves to keep a small staff of upper-to-middle-class white ladies out of trouble for 15 hours a week . . .

"In August 2018, Jason Kander’s bestselling memoir Outside the Wire was published and quickly became a New York Times bestseller. Two months later, Kander unexpectedly dropped out of Kansas City’s mayoral race, despite being the frontrunner."

FALSE!!! JASON KANDER WAS GETTING BEAT UP IN KANSAS CITY MAYORAL DEBATES BY THE LIKES OF THE FAR MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE SCOTT WAGNER!!!

This fact alone would send TKC into a depression. Kidding. Former Councilman Wagner knows his stuff and he's usually one of the smartest and nicest people in the room in most civic circles.

But the reality is that all of the mayoral candidates were ripping Kander apart and his lack of any operational knowledge regarding KCMO municipal government made him look like an amateur among a hungry pack of lawyers who had sharpened their teeth on City Hall ordinances for years.

More to the point . . .

JASON KANDER CAN'T HANDLE TOUGH QUESTIONS OR DEBATE, ONLY COMPLIMENTS!!!

This isn't coming from a place of partisanship or hateration. He would have been a better Mayor for Kansas City than Quinton Lucas but just like Jolie Justus, he wasn't prepared to fight for it. Obviously, he had other, more important problems to deal with . . . His exit from the contest was Kansas City's loss.

But again, Jason Kander did better than land on his feet . . . He and his wife Diana earned national media high praise and turned a potentially devastating career disappointment into a campaign that launched him on the national stage yet again.

And so, the more we think about it . . . Jason Kander is the most powerful man in Kansas City for the limited time he actually resides in this town.

Here's the listing from 435 mag which offers the positioning and was obviously put together before the Chiefs went on a losing streak and QB Patrick Mahomes busted his leg . . .

These are the 50 most powerful people in Kansas City right now

Illustrations by Neil Jamieson, David Babcock | Photography by Samantha Levi In Kansas City, power comes in many forms. Sheer wealth can mold the city with the stroke of a pen. Athletic heroics can bring our city together. Charismatic community organizers can shake up the system.

You decide . . .

  1. So, most powerful guy from KC also lives in DC. Nothing wrong with that, it's how it always has worked.

    2. Will only agree that Kander lucked out by not becoming Mayor of Kansas City, MO. Slamming Trump on talk shows and talking about tiny homes for veterans is not only more important, it's probably more rewarding and actually makes a difference in the world. In many ways, the course of KCMO has already been plotted. Continued developer subsidy and infrastructure neglect. There's no use trying to fight it. There's too many special interests competing for money.

Meanwhile, national politics seems far more rewarding and fun. Good for Kander, he made it out!

  2. He would have lost to Mayor Q.

He didn't have a chance. He was smart to move onward and upward.

    1. ^^^ Nope.

He had more vote and more people willing to get out to the polls. After he dropped out, people just lost interest.

  3. ^^^^And yet he would have run in a walk. Weird.

Agree with Dex. What he's doing now is almost certainly more rewarding than trying to rescue KC from the ravages of Sly's continuing the policies of give-it-away Kay.

If he doesn't get vice president, Kander should totally run for Mayor of KC again. I would vote for him in a second and so would a lot of other people. Quinton would rather be in DC anyway, we need Kander here!

  7. It says something about the metro that there are more grifters, developers, lawyers and politicians than individuals who actually build and run businesses that employ people and produce a product or service. The majority of those listed are just parasites feeding off those who produce.

  14. Jason certainly has national visibility among far left political organizers/donors. Other than talking in an echo chamber to other like minded people - I'm not exactly sure what 'power' that shows? Does it create jobs? Is it innovative? Does it improve our schools or reduce crime? Does it put Kansas City on the national stage? I think this 'power' list should just be 'most recognized' and Gary Leezak and Brian Busby should be in front of Kander since more people know who they are and have just as much 'power' as he does in shaping the way our city works.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jason is a pussy. Not open for debate.

  16. 9:39: He's a pussy who served his country in Afghanistan while you were serving at McDonalds. Now get back to that grill. Those burgers won't flip themselves.

  17. I think it is a great list. Also, it isn't ranked. They are all just part of the 50. I happen to know several of them personally and I promise they are not "crooks, liars, con artists, thieves and grafters." All are deserving to be part of the 50, and there are a bunch that I think could have made it as well, but there are 50 spots. I have to admit that it is a pretty diverse group of 50 people, too.

  21. Byron Funkhouser10/30/19, 10:28 AM

I'm wondering what the hell 9:01 is talking about.

Yesterday, the Republican Party launched a broad attack against a decorated Iraqi veteran, a Lt. Col. no less, & accused him of being disloyal to the President (not to be confused with the country.)

When I was a child, all adult men were veterans, & nobody compared service records to see who was really a pussy or not. But now, in the Era of Trump, veterans are no longer respected (see John McCain, & any undocumented veteran; they're deported.)

Personally, only two people have ever thanked me for my service, though importantly one of them was a VA Official, while anonymous cowards deny my service all together. Jason Kander should be thanked for his service, & not called a pussy by anonymous cowards.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Kander didn't want to be mayor. He thought he did but then he realized the job would suck. He has political ambitions but no one outside kansas city gives a shit about him and has an active dislike for him because he's obviously a fake dude who gets exposed when trying to talk about issues with people who actually know what they're talking about.

Mahomes is easily the most powerful Kansas Citian...he has a fucking CEREAL in his name and those on both sides of the state line love him.

Neal Patterson is far more powerful than kander too. He runs a multi billion dollar business in KC that locally employs 15,0000 people. God damn, local media props up kander even though he hasn't done shit in years

    ReplyDelete
  23. Think nothing of it, Byron. 9:01 doesn't know what he's talking about, either.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 9:57 doing what?????? Lots served and a lot of them were way behind the lines. Being in country does not mean being in the shit. He was an intelligence officer very cushy and he only did a one and done tour and not even a full tour. He is your typical democrat who blows and goes trying to make you believe they served their country and are a decorated hero for doing so. Interesting to note that while he claims to have been in the Army for all those years he was also elected into the MO House of Reps in 2008 right in the middle of his so called tour of duty. He's a blow hard nobody in my book. Like someone else said his ole lady calls the shots in his house.
During his time in the Missouri House, Kander was the chief sponsor of 28 bills, none of which became law. Sounds like he's just another Sharice Davids

You are no veteran and nobody thanks you because everyone knows what a fraud you are.

  32. 10:28, the last time I checked, the President is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Services.Lieutenant Colonels take orders from him, not vice versa. If a superior officer makes an operational decision the Lt Col does not agree with, the Lt Col's duty is to execute that decision, not complain about it to third parties. When the Commander in Chief tells a Lt Col to do something that may be unwise but is not illegal, the Lt Col's only option is to comply with that order. This Lt Col (not that high a rank in a D.C. military establishment that is swarming with generals and full colonels) obviously did not get that message. A court martial would not be out of order.

    ReplyDelete

  37. Steve Kraske is number 28?

If that measurement were actually somewhere in the vicinity of accurate, than Tony would be at least, number 10.

How many people read, think about or consider Steve Kraske and his effect on this town on a daily basis?

    A half a dozen?

Okay, say you're a big Kraske fan from the days when the K.C.Star brokered power in smokey back rooms filled with oleaginous, scofflaws..., er..., Democrats that determined the city's future. Do you still think that he has heft, clicks and is the tip of the spear with respect to policy and opinion in this city?

    No.

TKC, warts and all, presents a real and present danger, speaking truth to power on any given Wednesday afternoon, than Kraske's finest moment and entire oeuvre.

The eponymous TKC, Tony personified, as much as you fuckin hate it, is probably, TOP 5.

    Flyover country at best.
Jason Pander is a self-created "celebrity" with a very thin resume, much of which has been invented or exaggerated, who has found that racing from cause to cause and maximizing TV face-time has become synonymous with actually accomplishing something.
He joins an endless list of people no one had ever heard of who appear on panels on cable television and make believe they actually have inside information about national and international affairs.
It is entertainment, and not very good at that.

No takers. it later became Innovative Software and was sold to a big tech firm. That's the first mega millions he made! All the girls from college swoon over him as they missed out! At least he didn't waste his talent by going to DST systems like others from my college. He would have been underappreciated and made maybe 45K per year there. oh and a $25 plaza gift certificate for Christmas as a bonus. He did the right thing and started his own company(s). A nicer guy you will never meet! Really!
