TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KCFD LADY LEADER APPOINTED AMID UNION FIGHTING!!!

We talked about this one earlier in the Summer so it's not exactly "news" to our blog community . . . But here's the rubes on social media playing ketchup:

The word today from City Manager Troy who has a lot more power than Mayor right now . . .

"I have appointed Assistant City Manager Donna Maize as Interim Fire Chief for the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department (@KCMOFireDept). She will begin her duties September 8, 2019. She is the first female Fire Chief in the history of the Department."

Here's what the reporting doesn't mention . . .

This comes after real life fist fights among KCFD leaders -- Don't worry this happens a lot more often than is ever reported by the MSM. And the leadership change-up and progress isn't so much of a giant leap forward as distraction as 1st Responders make an impressive push to move outside of city limits like they've wanted to for more than a generation . . .

We'll miss them when they're gone but realize that a great many FD members whom we respect point to the constitutional probs with residency requirements that are being challenged across the nation.

KMBC: Woman named interim chief of KCFD

Fox4: KCFD’s new interim chief becomes first woman to lead department in its history

Official story:

"Last week, the city manager selected Donna Maize as the interim chief. Maize will be the first woman to ever lead KCFD in its more than 150-year history.

"Most recently, Maize has served as the assistant city manager for public safety, but she also has a long tenure with the department.

“KCFD has been a part of my life since birth when the selection of my first name was made by the firefighters that worked with my father,” Maize said in a post shared on the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 42 Facebook page.

“For almost 26 years I was able to work alongside all of you in some capacity or another until I became an assistant city manager. To be able to lead KCFD today and into the future is humbling at best.”

  1. Slippery slope TKC. if fd can move out of town then police should get that same right and having officers from outside the community policing the inner city has been a problem and a long complaint in east coast cities.

    1. People can complain all they want but that still shouldn't stop kcfd from being able to live some place decent.

    2. But I thought we were best in the midwest with 20 million visitors a year?

  2. Good for the City Manager. Only a woman can clean up the mess that men have made for years. The same thing needs to happen in the White House.

    1. ^^^^^^^^^^ you stupid rag. Didn't you read the post? The appointment is just a cover so the union can get what it wants.

And interim leaders rarely if ever get the real job. Sorry ladies.

  3. So will this help response times? Doubtful.

KCFD still slow to respond to most calls.

  4. Lol, just noticed a "star" writer get pissed when they read your blog. Good show. I love it when news people get bitchy with one another. Great thinking that you douches really matter.

    1. You always can tell when Tony gets his feelings hurt because he deleted comments. You know, you can't really call yourself the "free speech zone" if you're moderating comments.

    2. Wildman is more sensitive. But keeps on reading because he loves it here.

A's for the new chief. A questionable pick because the fd might like her but won't really support her when she sides with Troy.

  5. Troy places one of his flunkies in a position they have no business being in.

Is this city ran by idiots or what?

If she addresses the overtime issue then she has my support.

  7. Another six figure pension secured for the next 30 years. THanks Troy!

  8. Democrat greedy Firefighter Union slobs looking to scam the taxpayers.

  9. ^^^^ Those people actually risk their lives for you and drive all wages higher. I doubt you're a corporate oligarch so it seems like you're just brainwashed.

  10. It's time to fire Troy now. Sorry Quinton but you're actually going to have to do some work instead of just tweet.

  11. So the previous chief is now in the city managers office and the assistant city manager that was promoted from the fire department is back in the fire department? But back in the department temporarily, right? So what happens one a new chief is appointed? Will she go back to the managers office? The question is who’s budget will be cut to cover 2 very high paying jobs.

  12. To the new mayor, WAKE UP, TROY SCHULTE IS A MASTER MANIPULATOR. Whatever he is telling you behind the scene his plan for the fire department is what he wants you to know and NOT the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Fire department overtime is directly related to the increase in hourly rates over the years in bargaining agreements agreed to by the city manager. But the cost impact of the agreements is never even close. I agree the city manager tells the council what they want to hear and council members never question the details or hold anyone accountable for the costs.

Animal control/Pet Project is a perfect example.

  14. Mr. Mayor, city employees are begging you to replace the city manager. Enough is enough

Corruption in KC is getting out of control. If there's nothing done, this will all end up in bankruptcy.

  16. This actions of this city manager and his followers will be reverberating through city hall for the next 20 years. Massive debt and masterful manipulation of policies and procedures will ultimately be exposed by the next city manager not long after taking the job or they will be forced to continue the same tactics. And that doesn’t include the ethics issues, which city hall employees are well aware of.

  17. according to OSHA figures..Firefighters the 56th most dangerous occupation.

Taxi drivers, lumberjacks , convenience store clerks all far more fatalities..yet morons fall for the "risk their lives" crap Firefighters use to scam 6 figure salaries -for mostly sleeping,or sitting around the station watching porn.

  18. Idea: KCFD & EMS need to be divided up again with EMS becoming an official city branch and not just a public private partnership.

  19. The former chief and the former union president both received made up jobs in the City Managers office recently, plus given new luxury sport utility vehicles to take home at night. This is all part of sweetheart contracts both received as part of a union takeover 18 months ago. Now both will receive inflated 6 figure salary's for the next 34 months till the contracts run out all the while they have no real responsibilities or duties. Or in the immortal words of Dire Straights.... Money for Nothing....

  20. KCMO FIRE IS THE ONLY OFFICE IN THAT DUMP THATS WORTH A FUCK!

    ReplyDelete
  21. What if anything does the City Council know about these former fire employees now assigned to the managers office? Are they in agreement that this is an appropriate use of city funds? I wonder how many other city employees will lose their jobs while these positions continue to be funded, like the animal control positions.

I’m sure the city manager will say personnel matters are confidential, so no comments on these positions. I believe the managers judgement is highly suspect in this and many others that have resulted in record breaking settlements, all with non disclosures of course.

THE CITY MANAGERS OFFICE HAS NO OVERSIGHT.

    ReplyDelete
  22. How do these former fire employees get to still have take home city vehicles? They no longer respond to emergencies?

    MISUSE OF CITY FUNDS

    ReplyDelete
  23. Are they taxed on taxed on these vehicles? There needs to be an external audit as soon possible.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The city has administrative regulations regarding take home vehicles.
