TKC MUST SEE!!! CHECK THE BALLOT LANGUAGE FOR KANSAS CITY VOTE TO REMOVE MLK BLVD & SAVE THE PASEO!!!

Morning newsman favorite Mark Alford shares a glimpse at the most important question on an upcoming ballot for what has always been a typically low turnout November election . . .

What we know so far . . .

- The "Save The Paseo" activists haven't collected much money for a campaign but then again, neither have MLK BLVD supporters.

- We're looking at maybe 7-10% turnout tops.

- On the bright side, this is the highest profile local issue in November and will be much more interesting than a few tax increases quietly placed on the ballot.

    1. Yes because we need another year of debate about where the new MLK blvd will go. That should be very productive for everyone.

  4. The national board of the Southern Christian Leadership Coalition has recently decided to support the effort to keep the Martin Luther King, Jr. name. Perhaps it provide funds for an ad campaign to run on the eve if the election.

  6. This is what Happens when you let a Bunch of Fake Preachers,Lobby to Change Street Names. In the Bible it states .Not to worship false gods Well THE Preacher's are False gods. AND M.L.K.IS NOT A GOD. He did help the Country considerable. The Voter's should decide on The Change not Fake Preachers .And I'm sure on Sunday they take money from the ones that really need it. He will make you feel good for a couple of hours .And after Church the Preacher is at the Breakfast Buffet.

  7. Citizens of Killa city should have been allowed to vote on this issue from the very beginning. Now they need to vote to change it back to Paseo. KCMO has a MLK park and they do not even maintain it so it is usable.

  8. It won't pass. Nobody is going to vote against MLK. Sorry but the blog readers here aren't a good gauge of public opinion.

  10. Cleaver should have done the right thing and had his street renamed after Dr. King.

  11. That is of course long as the taxpayers of KC didn't have to shell out a yearly payment to the King family.

  12. Anyone figure the royalty cost for the mlk name...?

  13. This issue was decided under the table with the old council with Reed being the leader of this. Not throwing any shade on MLK but I'm voting to change the name back to Paseo. Let do something meaningful for the black community instead of this do nothing name switch.

  15. How about "Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, formerly Reverend Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard, formerly Forty Seventh Street"?

We'd only need two signs, one facing each direction, each of them should reach all the way across town.
