TKC MUST READ!!! MISSOURI REP. RORY ROWLAND DENOUNCES JACKSON COUNTY PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT CRISIS!!!

Even better, he's working on a solution that might earn bi-partisan approval in a legislative body that wants to AGGRESSIVELY PUSH BACK AGAINST HIGHER MUNICIPAL TAX RATES . . . Take a look:

Examiner: State lawmaker calls for action on property assessments

Money line . . .

“The tax assessments in Jackson County,” Rowland said, “have created chaos for the taxpayers, for the levy districts and for our citizens and our constituents. It impacts seniors on a fixed income. We’re going to have people who have their escrow accounts already adjusted because of the assessment. However, their appeals have not gone through the process, so their assessed valuation is in fact the taxes they’re going to pay next year. We have people that have 100, 200, 300, 400 percent increases, and it is impacting them significantly.”

He said state legislators need to step in.

Developing . . .

Don't look for the Republican legislature to care about a county that always votes Democratic. The few areas where there are Republican voters are the least impacted by the errors.

Exactly the opposite. Look for Republicans to use this as an opportunity to court new voters.

Doesn't appear the Calvary is coming over the hill folks.

Rory Rowland is just pontificating to make himself look good with the rabble in Independence all the while knowing the state can't do anything about the tax increase. Don't listen to this guy he is a LIAR! THE STATE CAN'T DO ANYTHING!

Glad I live in Clay County. Not YET as f----d up as Jackson (but will be in several years. New, unneeded, land for county offices is a good example of typical politico hands in taxpayers pockets.)

Will continue to buy stuff in NKC, Amazon and Gladstone to avoid KC developer's benefit taxes.

Since Calvary is where Jesus was crucified, I doubt it will be coming over any hills either.
