TKC MUST READ!!! CLAY CHASTAIN TALKS IMPEACHMENT, RECALL AND POWER OF KANSAS CITY VOTER PETITIONS!!!

In his latest news blast, this town's most prolific petitioners references trouble in the nation's capital and then brings it home with a consideration of transit issues confronting Kansas City.

Checkit:

Clay Chastain: Kansas City's new Mayor and City Council violating the public trust for their own benefit.

In Washington, if you violate the public trust for your own benefit you should be impeached. In Kansas City, if you violate the public trust for your own benefit you should be recalled.

Mayor Quinton Lucas (and others) are refusing to place a valid "Green Transit" petition before citywide voters. Nearly three thousand KC voters signed the petition and submitted in to the City way back in April 2019 to go on the November ballot. The City Clerk certified the petition as sufficient. Nevertheless, the City has refused to place the people's valid petition before voters or give the Committee of Petitioners any official reason as to why. This great, city-rebuilding petition initiative (to modernize and expand our City's deficient public transportation system) is sitting, rotting and being laughed at and mocked by smug City leaders who think they can ignore the voters.

However, the City (and then Councilman Lucas) did place the (racially-charged) "Save the Paseo" petition before November voters. Apparently, there is some selective government going on.

No doubt the City (and inside streetcar supporters like... developers, Tom Gerend and City Manager Troy Schulte) do not want citywide voters to vote on a petition that would nullify expanding the City's obsolete, slow-moving (in traffic) and "Touristy Frou Frou" streetcar system to the Plaza. Because it's not their vision, they don't want the people to vote on a petition initiative that would also... replace diesel buses with rapid, quiet and zero-emission transit technology, tie the City together and help lower income people who need better transit the most.

Playing dirty politics with a valid petition for one's own benefit, is not only a clear violation and betrayal of the public trust, it is also an abuse of power. The voters are supposed to decide a petition's merit, not the government.

Mayor Quinton Lucas: Does Kansas City now have a new transparent government as advertised? Or was that just some warm fuzzy rhetoric you orated during the Mayor's race to get elected? Judge a man by his actions, not his words. And so far, the actions of our new Mayor and City Council are not transparent.

  1. All things considered, I'd rather have Clay's petition considered then all of the speculation on the streetcar urging residents to sell their homes for rock bottom prices.
