TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! DID JACKSON COUNTY EXEC & ASSESSMENT DIRECTOR BETRAY TRUST OF LEGAL POWER PLAYER?!?!
Everything about the Administration of Jackson County Exec Frank White has been sloppy, sketchy and mostly a horrific disaster.
KCTV5 offers another example and some great journalism . . .
Emails show different consideration on tax assessments for those with ties to Jackson County leaders
Money line that stands out even among the bulk of the report featuring the absolute incompetence of the Director of Assessment via easily intercepted e-mails . . .
A KCTV5 News Investigation has uncovered thousands of emails from Jackson County officials, expressing concerns over the fallout from this year’s massive tax assessment debacle, and just not necessarily for the taxpayers.
Not shockingly, the emails reveal some residents may have received special consideration over others and that most of them are rich, powerful, and well-connected.
Previous KCTV5 News reports have focused on the lavish property of attorney and developer Ken McClain.
Despite being a sprawling estate in the same county where some have seen their property values jump as much as 500%, his new tax assessment came back relatively low, only a 53% increase to $690,941 from $450,215 the year before.
Coincidentally, or perhaps not at all, McClain is said to be very good friends with Jackson County Executive Frank White.
Again, read and watch the entire report.
Now here's our TKC EXCLUSIVE TIDBIT told to us earlier this year and easily confirmed by anybody who knows . . .
LOCAL LEGAL EAGLE KEN MCcCLAIN HATES BAD PUBLICITY AND MIGHT BE LOSING PATIENCE WITH FRANK WHITE FOR DRAGGING HIM INTO THIS HOT MESS!!!
Big time support from a member of the elite like Mr. McClain comes by way of longstanding trust and the power player attorney dragged through the MSM mud in a tawdry property tax political hot potato kerfuffle isn't just distasteful but possibly a deal breaker for the dude with very deep pockets who has been loyal to the embattled Exec thus far.
Developing . . .
that's the way all patrons work. They get what they can and then move on.
ReplyDeleteBut once Ken goes, there's nobody to pick up the slack and Frank is back on his own again.
Look at those e-mails from Gayle. Does she have any idea who her job entails. Any clue? Did she have any experience for the work before she got the job. That's the weakest link. A patronage appointment might have screwed over thousands in KC.
DeleteKansas City has the best government money can buy.
DeleteCan you believe that dumb bitch is still licensed with the State as an appraiser. Everybody taxpayer should complain to the Missouri Appraisal Board. She is license #RA002679. She clearly thinks she is above the law.
DeleteClean house at the county. That's the only way this gets fixed.
ReplyDelete^^^^ Actually, Jeff City stepping in and limiting the damage is the best bet. Frank isn't going to do anything and the Legislature is playing dumb. Missouri might need to revoke the County Charter but at this point there's little support left for this government body. Best to scrap the thing and start over.
ReplyDeleteThe county also rents office space from McClain in and around Independence Square. Since Frank White became county executive what the county pays McClain in rent has skyrocketed, gone up something like 1,000%.
ReplyDeleteI hope KCTV5 looks into this too, since no other news media seem to be doing much of anything.
Between the increased rent and lowball assessment number this smells of Frank using the county to pay McClain back for "gifts." I think "gift" is the word Frank used to describe his secret foreclosure bailout.
Everyone is looking at this wrong. In any reasonable world, the 53% increase that McClain was hit with would be considered insane, incompetent, and abusive. The only reason it looks like he has any sort of connected privilege is that other assessments were even worse.
ReplyDeleteDONT forget The COMBAT TAX .
ReplyDelete9:16 BULLSHIT!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteA two or three million dollar property being assessed at a quarter to one-sixth of that. The reason this "looks" bad is because it is awful.
The guy bailed Frank White out and has his property severely undervalued. And the only reason it has been undervalued previously is because McClain used to be friends with Mike Sanders too.
What about all of her Freedom Inc Board members and her own property in Citadel?
ReplyDeleteShut up and pay your tax bill that's coming. If you don't like that you can leave, or we'll sell your place to a investor at tax auction and build a 25 Year tax abated modern shiny new residence on the lot. Go to payday loans if you need money to pay the taxes! You citizens need to stop your whining.
ReplyDeleteAnd what about all the other "friends" of County Legislators?
ReplyDeleteIs the Star looking at their(and the Legislator's own) assessments?
Might that be a good idea too?
I know the Star has jumped aboard the "Get Frank" bandwagon with all four feet, but in the meanwhile, what other skullduggery is going on?
The KC star must literally be getting money from the local governments because there's so much corruption and bullshit going on but they haven't broken or covered any of it despite being a couple blocks away. What a shameful news organization that is going to die in the most embarrassing way possible
ReplyDeleteAlso, we need to do a consolidated gov't with JaCo/KCMO similar to KCK. It's obvious this is dysfunctional to the point of unbelievable incompetence
What is really dumb is putting anything in e-mails that you don't want to be public. Just because the Star no longer reports on government corruption doesn't mean some other media might.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the suddenly silent Citizens for Responsible Government???? RECALL FRANK WHITE!!!!! CRG has all the money and lawyers and are supposed to support the taxpayer.....or are they just another hand waiting to be filled with $$$??? DO SOMETHING!!!!! RECALL FRANK WHITE!!!
ReplyDeleteIn Jackson County and KCMO "politics" incompetence, arrogance, insider dealing, upside-down priorities, ignoring basic functions of local government, paying no attention to the needs of residents, and even outright corruption and illegality are disqualifying at all.
ReplyDeleteThe question for folks like this is :
What are you going to run for next"?
And clueless voters elect these kinds of folks, and in many cases even THE SAME people, over and over again.
Why should any of this be a surprise?
Can't McClain file a personal injury suit against Frank, Beatty, and the assessment department?
ReplyDelete^^^ That's funny even though it really isn't funny anymore.
ReplyDeleteDamn bro, Jackson County is trash!
ReplyDeleteFrank White is the worst County Executive in the history of our County. He should resign.
ReplyDeleteYou expected what, honor among thieves?
ReplyDeleteDemocrats eating Democrats? Nothing to see here?
ReplyDeleteLike Republicans did Greitens. *side eye*
DeleteJackson County government is failing the public. County politicians all need to step down. The Jackson County legislature is now failing tax payers. Frank White and his direct associates have failed on many fronts. The State of Missouri needs to rescue its citizens being further abused by a corrupt local government.
ReplyDeleteTwo people that neither one has earned the right to be in the position they hold.
ReplyDeleteWhy hasn’t the Mayor said anything ?
ReplyDeleteOut of his jurisdiction. Plus, he has enough to worry about with bodies dropping everywhere Kansas City.
DeleteFire Frank,Gail,Jean and Vincent.
ReplyDeleteHope Ken doesn't have any jury trials scheduled in Jackson County soon. Might want to continue those til this blows over. The people will speak.
ReplyDelete1:32 I agree, they (Frank, Gail, Jean and Vincent) have proven to be incompetent public servants. They have lost the public trust in their position of stewardship.
ReplyDeleteBetrayal of trust ? Lol, was there any trust to being with ?
ReplyDelete2:38 Hello, Voters elected a few of these public servants...Frank and Jean.
ReplyDeleteGail and Vincent were appointed by Frank and Jean respectively.
Bro, someone needs to start clapping some cheeks!
ReplyDeleteMcCann Beatty, “the valuation is crazy. It went from $728,000 to $14,494,700.” That’s a staggering 1,891% increase.
ReplyDeleteWell duh WTF you going to do about it you freaking moron!
Why hasn’t the Mayor said anything? @ 1:30 PM
ReplyDeleteWell he obviously doesn't give a shit because if he did he would be speaking up. Or he doesn't want to be a one term mayor or end up in cement boots.
Entertaining the crowds, tweeting and photo ops and smiley selfies with the fans are much safer.
