More to the point and our EXCLUSIVE this morning . . .

COUNCIL DUDES JOIN KANSAS CITY CLIMATE STRIKE & ENDORSE GREEN NEW DEAL!!!

Here's the word FIRST ON TKC . . .

Young people with Sunrise Movement Kansas City strike from classes, workplaces as part of global call for climate action, Kansas City Councilman Eric Bunch and Overland Park City Councilman Logan Heley join them, among others, and back local Green New Deal

Kansas City, Missouri - Hundreds of young people with the Sunrise Movement and other organizations left their classrooms and workplaces today to meet-up at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and march to the nearby rally at Brush Creek/Theis Park. Local members of Sunrise Kansas City will join millions of young people striking around the globe to call upon the political and media establishment to take action on the greatest existential threat of our time.

“Climate change is the biggest threat to humanity. It is on us to move forward and push for change in all aspects of our lives. We must support big and bold initiatives like the Green New Deal,” UMKC Student Body President Justice Horn will say. At the rally, Horn will also push for the University of Missouri system to Divest its $13 million of fossil fuel holdings.

The 11AM student rally is one of thousands of strikes taking place across the U.S. At the rally, young members will demand a regional and federal Green New Deal, a city climate emergency declaration, and a just transition for frontline communities.

“We need justice for minority groups and those in poverty who will be most affected by the severe natural disasters. We need justice for the workers who will need new jobs once fossil fuels can no longer be obtained. The Green New Deal will ensure that no one is left behind,” 17 year-old St. Teresa’s Academy student Kailee Ford will say.

At 5PM, adults from many organizations in the Kansas City Climate Strike coalition will join the Sunrise Movement for a second mass rally at Mill Creek Park on the Plaza. The coalition will include The Sierra Club, Extinction Rebellion, MoveOn, Indivisible, 350, the Service Employees International Union Local 1, Missouri Interfaith Power & Light, Fossil Free UMKC, KC Vegans for Climate Justice, Climate Council of Greater Kansas City, Bridging the Gap, Kansas City Tenants, the UMKC Geology Club, StandUp KC, UMKC Women in Science, the Battery Tour, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Kansas City Mountain Movers, March for Our Lives Kansas City, and the Metropolitan Energy Center.

This large coalition will deliver a swath of messages related to the climate crisis before marching on the Country Club Plaza. Some, like Grandview resident Craig Hewitt, 23, from Kansas City’s Extinction Rebellion chapter, will call for increased urgency from the news media.

“Media outlets seriously need to raise more awareness on the Climate Crisis. This is about the future of our species,” Hewitt will say.

At the 5PM rally, 4th District Kansas City Councilman Eric Bunch, and Ward 1 Overland Park City Councilman Logan Heley will join the organizations and speak at the rally. Both politicians will be the first on the local level back the Green New Deal, responding to the many demands of their constituents in Missouri and Kansas respectively.

“We demand the next president of the United States to prioritize solving the climate crisis by enacting a Green New Deal as their first job. We demand that our congresspeople take the Green New Deal pledge & reject any fossil fuel money. And we demand our local, elected officials: governors, mayors, state legislators, and city council members to stand with us in declaring a climate emergency and implementing a Green New Deal for Kansas City and Missouri,” Missouri State University graduate student and Kansas City-native Amy Ramirez will say.

“No more injustice, no more destruction, and no more corruption. Today we strike for First Nations people to call for respect of indigenous land. We strike for frontline communities who have been displaced and/or hurt by climate injustice. We strike for our lands and oceans to protect biodiversity. We strike for workers, families, minority communities, plants, animals, and future generations to achieve the future we know that we can have,” Amy will add.

  1. Interesting, but I wonder if they have support from the rest of the council. Both of them are new and might not have a coalition just yet.

    1. Great, Bunch wants millions more along with his bike plan for $400-million. He now earns the title of the biggest beggar on the council, and that's saying something for this group.

  2. Interesting. Activism is good. I wish they cared about the homicide rate as much and maybe did something about more violence in the 4th district. Bullets kill more people than climate change. To me, this just seems like something fun to do before the art fair.

  7. First of all, big ups to Tony for getting up before 4 AM in the morning and forcing himself to read this slop and then post it.

The "Climate Change" hysteria is a thin patina that covers the actual intent of the Marxist/Socialist behind the curtain who use brain dead puppets like AOC, Eric Bunch, Logan Heley and organizations like UMKC Women In Science (LMAO) to facilitate the wealth transfer from what is left in the wallets of the middle class to our "Thought Leaders" in Washington DC. If any of these bumptious, self absorbed morons were actually interested in cleaning up the environment, they would boycott all products from China and India, the two countries responsible for 95% of the worlds trash and garbage in our oceans and air. But no, that never comes up, because it won't garner any cash for the phonies on the Left who are mostly orders of magnitudes more obtuse than they are smart enough to tie their shoes.

Man-made global warming is a non-issue. Not only has it never been scientifically proven, but its purpose is to manipulate the masses, using alarmist rhetoric, into abandoning Western industrial society by fanning mass hysteria to a fever pitch. Once this was done, getting the electorate on board with curtailing Western scientific and technological development would be a cakewalk. As an ideology, environmentalism is just black-and-white moralizing within a simple Marxist dialectical framework.

The truth is that leftists have no interest in the environment; if they did, they would be neo-Malthusian advocates of zero population growth in places like Africa and the Middle East.

Councilman Eric "Spandex" Bunch has his shorts in a bunch because he is not capable of convincing the rest of the council to support his $450 million bike/walk KC scam.
His efforts would be better served if he focused on the massive crime rate in his district and KCMO.

  11. By the way, I see that "Move On" will be there. George Soros is by turns, an agent provocateur, an agent of destruction, of chaos, whose political interests dovetail perfectly with the Marxist ideology so popular with the previously mentioned salt of the earth heavy weights expected to be at the party this afternoon.

Soros would see us all, destroyed. He would have us all following the great examples of Statist, Centralized Socialist Governments that have sold their citizens to slaughter, servitude, contempt and desolation in our freshly remembered past, which, considering the gathering of dunderheaded, uneducated, uninformed, wet by every rain, blown by every wind idiots that adhere to this newest hysteria, is pretty scary.

Soros is a seditious, lying traitor and should be arrested as such, prosecuted and incarcerated for his crimes.

  12. I like how the climate change crowd postpones their predicted apocalypse every three or four years . . . and have gotten away with such idiocy for decades.

There are many precedents for this; here's one of them

Back in the 1800s, the Millerite religious fanatics kept predicting an apocalypse, and kept missing it badly (they referred to the failure of the Earth to end as "The Great Disappointment"). Because human nature hates (A) losing and (B) being branded an idiot, the Millerites kept doubling down, becoming even more strident and fanatical

"Our math was off," "We misinterpreted the signs," "The end is near . . . we just arrived early," etc etc etc.

These folks never admitted defeat, and today are known as the 7th Day Adventist Chuch . . . which has achieved pretty much mainstream status.

Climate changers are the new Millerites. You can never alter their beliefs, for the "end of days" via bad weather is their religion.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I do think that these folks will all show up at the event in electric cars, which, as we all know, are powered by unicorn farts, not Lithium Batteries like they told you on Fox News. Yep, those electric cars are not recharging their batteries with coal power at all, so START YOUR ENGINES!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Every time energy changes form, some of it is lost as waste heat or other inefficiencies. Converting natural gas to electricity, storing it in batteries, using it to charge a golf cart (delivery truck), then taking the electricity back out of the battery to drive the vehicle.... Very very wasteful. Converting to gasoline and letting it sit in a tank until it's needed.... Very very efficient.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Socialism is no substitute for science. Software models based on socialism (i.e. illogic+dishonest/fudged data) lead to laughable predictions that Earth and science refute every year.

The Sun (comprising 99.8% of the mass of the solar system) drives Earth's climate with an average irradiance of 1,368 Watts/m^2. A mere 0.2% variation equates to 1-year of man's energy consumption.

Socialists continue their means to a socialist end in spite of science.

  19. 7:10 Jesus lady...,

The food you eat was grown with fossil fuels, it was transported with fossil fuels, it was harvested with fossil fuels. The clothes you wear were either directly made from fossil fuels or they were grown with fertilizers derived from fossil fuels. The rare earth minerals that are inside your computer that you used to post your ignorant comment was harvested using machines that run on fossil fuels and extremely terrible environmental practices in a 3rx world country that used strip mining and caustic chemicals that were possibly derived from fossil fuels. The plastic that is used in everything from your toothbrush to the dashboard in your car was made from fossil fuels. The electricity that you use in your house at night time was more than likely made from fossil fuels. The concrete that you stand and walk on was refined from the raw materials using Fuels and releases carbon for decades. The street you drive on or walk on were made from fossil fuels. The battery pack you use in your electric hippie scooter was made from Plastics that were part of the distillation of fossil fuels. The metal in said scooter was refined from the birning of fossil fuels The glass that you look out of in your office cubicle was made using fossil fuels in the manufacturing process. The wood and steel that you're building was made from was either directly made from fossil fuels or derived from practices using fossil fuels. Literally every facet of your life depends on fossil fuels the entire population of the world minus a few small hunter-gatherer tribes that live in the Stone Age require fossil fuels there is no way the natural world could support a growing population that already has 7.6 billion people with out this amazing technology The ships that you buy your imported goods from such as your television or your Chinese iPhone came using a boat that burns gallons of fossil fuels per mile traveled. Your environmental leaders that travel all over the world preaching about fossil fuels and how they are destroying the environment use fossil fuels in a bit of irony.
Unless somebody actually makes a fusion reaction that has a net energy gain there is no end to the you need and use of fossil fuels and even when a fusion reactor actually becomes practical which hasn't yet in almost 70 years of trying to perfect one you will still need fossil fuels to fertilize your crops, to transport your goods and to harvest the raw materials.

The difference between a conservative and a liberal on this subject is conservatives are realistic about what is required I do not think that there is too many conservatives alive today that do not have some sort of care for the environment.
If you think the younger generation that doesn't understand that there is a biological difference between a man and a woman is going to be the savior of the Earth you are vastly mistaken it is not me being a jerk against Generation Z or the millennial it's just realistic if they cannot grasp basic biological science they are not going to be the amazing scientists that come up with earth-shattering inventions that changed our lives for the better.

  26. Science doesn't lie assholes. I'm sure you 'conservatives' can find any bullshit article written by some scientist paid for and backed by oil and gas, but those guys taking paychecks are part of the 1%. 99% of the scientists out there have data to back up the fact that you can tie the rapid rise in global temps to human activity. It's well known the earth goes through cycles, the problem is the cycle is being compressed into a shorter time frame. You can argue all day about policy and whether the US doing something will have an impact if China, India and other developing countries don't do their part. I get that. But arguing against the science just paints you as the big dumb moron you are and ends any credibility you have.

And, Chuck. Chuck, Chuck, Chuck. Lecturing TKC posters "facilitating wealth transfers" and Marxism/Socialism ideals when oil and gas are two of the most highly subsidized industries in this country, yet making money hand over fist. Your bandwagon, "everybody agrees with the narrative and the rest are evil people" premise is, as you intrinsically know, untenable, unsupportable and an embarrassment to anyone with above room temp IQ.

There are usually two sides to most arguments and the evidence that Americans can change the world's temperature by eating dandelions and walking 30 miles to work everyday is not only untenable, but fuckin stupid.

  46. I have always held the standard that I should not intentionally hurt the environment. That does not mean I embrace the Green New Deal, I do not. I drive a car, I air condition my home, I drive to get things I need and I travel the world. @ 721 is more right than wrong. The fact is that the United States is 19% of the world population and we use more resources than anyone else. That is not necessarily bad because US inventions, financing, leadership and manufacturing help the rest of the world get better. We can not control that they do not have the environmental regulation we already have in place. The US is a world leader in the environment. Others have some regulations that are tougher in some areas, but overall we have the toughest regulation on auto emissions and safety standards and industrial environmental regulations. Governments in second and third world countries do not meet their social responsibility to their own people and the people of the rest of the world. They pollute more, they manufacture more in sweat shops and have poor living standards and education standards and in general the standards of treatment of their citizens. Go to those places and protest, not here. Those are the people have the negative impact on the world and they are 81% of the population of our planet.

  54. I watch the news to get weather information. Yes there is climate change, we have higher temperatures in the afternoon and cooler ones at night. Sometimes we have periods of no rain and some days we have torrential downpours. Sometimes there is wind and some times not. We endure snow but mostly only in the December to February times and sometimes we have extreme heat in July through September. In the spring rivers rise and in November river levels fall. The thing that seems to have the greatest impact on weather seems to be the sun and our relationship in distance and earth tilt in our orbit around the sun. I think the change from incandescent light bulbs has had the greatest impact on our temperature, and I'll bet 99% of the scientists haven't even studied that.

  61. 9:04 - You're right, it's not 99%, probably down in the 80% range. Since no one clicks links: https://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/full/10.1175/BAMS-D-13-00091.1, it says in the journal of American Meteorological Society below:

Research conducted to date with meteorologists and other atmospheric scientists has shown that they are not unanimous in their views of climate change. In a survey of Earth scientists, Doran and Zimmerman (2009) found that, while a majority of meteorologists surveyed are convinced humans have contributed to global warming (GW; 64%), this was a substantially smaller majority than that found among all Earth scientists (82%). Another survey, by Farnsworth and Lichter (2009), found that 83% of meteorologists surveyed were convinced human-induced climate change is occurring, again a smaller majority than among experts in related areas, such as ocean sciences (91%) and geophysics (88%).

No matter which way you cut it, the majority believe climate change is being driven by man.

I'm sure 'Tin Foil' Chuck will fill us in on the deep state infiltration into these groups to reset the world order as we know it and convert us to a Marxist/Socialist state. He'll also tell us how we're stupid for thinking we can all ditch our cars (no is proposing that) and A/C (no one is proposing that). I mean, why would Chuckles care, he'll be dead in another 10 years or so anyway.

  66. Summer officially ends this weekend. The official KCI weather station recorded no 100 degree temperatures this summer. In fact. there have been only 2 triple digit temperature days in the last 7 years (Sept. 8, 2013 and July 12, 2018) recorded at KCI. Contrast this with the 7 year period from 1953-59 when the temperature reached triple digits on at least 66 days in Kansas City. Climate change is real -- it's getting cooler!

  69. The US is only responsible for 16% of global CO2 emmissions. https://www.ucsusa.org/global-warming/science-and-impacts/science/each-countrys-share-of-co2.html

Reducing CO2 emmissions would help stabilize the climate to the extent of human causation. The approach that these communist organizations are taking seems more intend on nationalizing the private sector. They don't seem to be genuine in their concern for the environment, but rather focused on using hysteria to coerce the masses into accepting their agenda.

Climate change will continue and their will be effects but the way to deal with it is gradually, otherwise the costs (burdensome taxation, lost employment, higher inflation, reduced mobility, reduced productivity) outweigh the benefits.

This all applies to human caused climate change. Natural causes of climate change such as solar activity or orbital variations will still occur. So it is a falicy to think that we can regulate the climate in an absolute sense.

  70. 12:14 PM, check out the post at 1:17.

You're the moron in the tin foil hat screaming about the sky falling.

  71. 2:18 - do you want to put any context to that statement? Yeah, they only produce 16%, putting them squarely in 2nd place between China and India. Yay, USA! Don't pull your arm out of socket patting yourself on the back! Well I guess behind the rest of the world (19%), so technically 3rd place behind China and ROW in cumulative. Hell, even Russia (5%) who would nuke the untouched Siberian wilderness to get at a few barrels of oil is behind the US. If Carbon emissions lead to rapid warming, well, I guess we can't do shit, because, you know, we're only 16%. So why try.

1:17 - there's no links (not that anyone reads them) to any of that shit you just posted but thanks, that's great info.

    1. Oddly enough, Greenland ice cores prove that wild variations in temperature occurred far before evil cow farts or the satanic internal combustion engine.

The problem that you fail to see is that the apocalyptic religion of climate panic does not equal environmentalism. AOC's Green New Deal set the movement back decades; The Green New Deal actually functions far better as satire of environmentalism than environmentalism itself.

  72. People are generally ok with reasonable considerations of the environment. Recycling is not unpopular. The main problem with woke-scold environmentalism like the AOC brand, aside from its essential impossibility, is that it amounts to a consumption tax on people who aren't movie stars or privileged congresswomen. You little people better change your habits, and I will fly around the country being driven from place to place to preach at you about it.

The message is silly, and the messengers are hypocrites.

  74. Don’t litter, be kind to animals, recycling’s for suckers (it’s all going to end up in the ground eventually), so stop feeling guilty… Go out there and embrace all the bounty that comes with being a 21st century American — you know, like Obama, who says he believes in Global Warming with his mouth but proves he doesn’t with the $15 million he just spent on oceanfront that we’re told is doomed to flooding.

  75. no worries, "Contrary to popular belief, birth control pills account for less than 1 percent of the estrogens found in the nation's drinking water supplies, scientists have concluded in an analysis of studies published on the topic."
