TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! FIRST FRIDAY ATTENDANCE DRAMATICALLY DECLINES AFTER KANSAS CITY CROSSROADS STREET PARTY CRACKDOWN!!!

This isn't so much news as an inevitability . . .

TKC TOLD SO YOU!!! KANSAS CITY REJECTED ARTSY OFFERINGS AS ATTENDANCE FOR CROSSROADS FIRST FRIDAY WAS MORE THAN CUT IN HALF!!!

Don't get it twisted, there was a decent crowd but NOTHING compared to recent year. Still, only about 1/3rd of the patrons on local streets offered a dramatic juxtaposition.

Did you stay away from First Friday in the aftermath of the tragic, deadly shooting last month??? Tell us why!!!

  1. Sorry beetches. I was there and it was fabulous!

The crowds weren't filled with jerks from JoCo. You could actually walk on the street and there wasn't so many goof balls posing for everybody else. It was sad to see some of the memorial stuff but overall this is the best way to move forward.

    1. Totally missing the point. How much money did you make. It's not about your stupid Friday night party. It's bout businesses trying to stay afloat. This is an economic disaster and KC hasn't done much to stop it.

  2. Nobody wants to get shot. Is that surprising?

  3. Most of the gasbags on this blog never go anywhere so I'm not really surprised that they might not have an opinion.

  6. You can't really blame people for staying away from a murder scene. But the people who did venture appreciate the experience far more. What we need to watch is if the businesses can still earn a profit, after all it's hard taking away their biggest night of the month and cutting it down so dramatically. Honestly don't know if we want KCMO getting involved. That was why the event got so out of control in the first place.

  10. My life and my families lives is too valueable to be lost at a gathering like first Friday. Just not worth it. You can tell that someone else will get shot. There are shootings everywhere,

  11. The decline in attendance is probably the best thing that could have happened after such a horrible tragedy. The focus should be on healing for her family and friends and in the future I hope we take public safety more seriously.

  13. I have never been and had never planned to go and didn't go this time. So there!

  14. There were fewer people but that is to be expected, I think we need to see if the mayor & council will pay up for the higher insurance and if the food trucks will be allowed back. That will help the event somewhat and I think the future is a smaller & more closely connected neighborhood event. That is not a bad thing.

  15. First Fridays have been going on for years and since I am not a fag who lives in the crossroads, what ever happens there (including murders) does not effect me. I Live in Leawood, drink at home on the weekends, have a huge backyard fire pit, and a out door kitchen, I would never have to eat or be entertained by roach festivities in KCMO. I am 50 years old and have tons of 20 year olds hanging out with me..Gold digger girls for sure, but the sex is great and it puts a smile on your KCMO daughters face when she comes and hangs out in Leawood. And while you might throw something at the wall because you know its true, just know at Christmas your 20 year old daughter will be back to break the turkey wishbone with ya and wasnt a KCMO murder statistic.

  16. All of ex mayor SLie's failed feel good organizations should gave been banned from Friday's event. They made it difficult for like minded people to view, enjoy and purchase the art. Huge distraction and very evident the event needs to do more downsizing.

  17. You can be sure that the crowd estimate from city hall will be in the MILLIONS!
And it shows just what a bush league little town KCMO is with all the breathless hype over an event that takes place once a month and the desperate efforts by city government to continue to try to make believe that downtown is a vibrant exciting place.
Try walking down Main Street at 8:00pm some Wednesday evening and let us know about the crowds and excitement.
And the notion of the taxpayers picking up an insurance tab and taking the risk for a private event demonstrates just how desperate KCMO really is.
First Friday started as an arts event for the actual artists and galleries in the Crossroads.
They lost control, it became a mob scene, and bad things were sure to happen.
If the crowd that's disappointed with the current policies needs to come downtown so badly, there's still the excitement of axe throwing and the opportunity to go to the P&L District and get wasted and puke on your shoes.
    Momentum!

  18. I was there. Actually quite a nice evening. Crowd was smaller of course and that was nice. You could walk and get around easy. The 'bands of roving youths' was absent, and that was good. It was like it was 10 years ago, when it was truly a fun experience. Good job

  19. Lack of Food Truck electric generators humming in the background can only be considered an improvement.
