KMBZ gave up on talking about local politics a few years ago and instead offered this recent Tweet-off . . .
Former Mayor Funkhouser noted:
"Kansas City is not a midwest city. It has far more in common with Texas than it does Ohio or Minnesota or Wisconsin. It's weird to me that people always say this."
The Port Authority honcho who has never to wear casual Polo gear in his office photo (ugh) responded to the comment here . . .
Jon Stephens, the CEO of Port KC, joined Jayme & Wickett to discuss former Mayor, Mark Funkhouser's, 'Kansas City is not a midwestern city" tweet. REALLY, FUNK???
Meanwhile a little part of me died by having to blog this as anything other than an UNPOPULARITY CONTEST betwixt a politico who was basically run out of town and a local power player that veteran newspaper dude Dave Helling wants to shut down.
You decide . . .
Aw, I think we all lost this one.
ReplyDeleteBring back the Funk! I'm pretty sure it might make everyone's head explode.
DeleteTraditionally, St. Louis has been the westernmost Midwest City and Kansas City has been the easternmost Western City.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, Jon Stephens needs to shut up and go back to stealing KC Tax money and handing it to his Kansas Bosses.
I have no idea why Shanin gives this crook exposure on "Rumpus Room" each week.
Kansas City is not Texas and it's not Ohio. We're a bit of a crossroads for the country with a mix of East West, North, South. That's why people like KC.
ReplyDeleteJon would look really good in an orange jumpsuit.
ReplyDeletePort KC answers only to God.
ReplyDeleteAh serial taxpayer rip off artist versus a experienced auditor.
ReplyDeleteWhat a match up.
Kansas City is a lot like the old west except instead of poor criminals robbing banks we have rich businesses robbing taxpayers.
ReplyDelete^^and don't forget good for nothing geezers commenting on blogs! We have a lot of those!
ReplyDeleteOh Chimpy. Don't be a mean, mad little monkey! ;)
DeleteKansas City, where there is an expensive and corrupt port authority even though there is no port. Ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteCerner laying off more than 250 workers as part of wider cost cutting effort
ReplyDeleteThe incentives are working!
I've lived in Texas and Ohio. Kansas City is much more like Ohio than Texas, thankfully.
ReplyDeleteYeah, KC is kind of it's own little world and not like many other US cities. I've traveled a lot and can't find many commonalities
ReplyDelete8:27, not sure what tradition you speak of - United States Census Bureau says different...
ReplyDeleteUh @ 11:37 - History is what names KC as Western, sorry I that doesn't follow the Census' rules.
ReplyDelete^^and what history would that be retard?
ReplyDeleteJim Rowland got less votes than Funkhouser in the election. LESS VOTES!
ReplyDelete^^^Fewer votes.
ReplyDeleteNope, not the "Retard History" you were taught in school @1:43, the one the normal kids learned.
