Retiring City Manager Troy Schulte Seyz: Kansas City Can't Stand Still

Pep talk as this local power player preps to walk out of the door. Checkit:

Schulte, whose contract ends Feb. 29, said the biggest message he has for those who come after him is that Kansas City’s redevelopment efforts shouldn't be stalled.

“We have to fight the temptation to declare victory,” he said in the interview. “To look at our history in Kansas City, there’s been a burst of activity followed by a decade or a generation where there’s not much going on. Cities are either moving forward, or they’re falling behind. They can’t just stand still.”

  1. He's proud of the go bonds? Free money for nothing is a great plan until the bill is due.

  3. Yeah Troy let's just destroy everything in sight in an incoherent frenzy so we can present a half ass low quality victory. "The Momentum". By the way it doesn't take courage to put money your own pocket. Think about that one for a while.

  7. Ask any resident south of 75th Street, east of Troost or north of the river if they think the city is moving forward. But what do they know, they are so stupid they actually pay taxes on their homes.

  8. We've got to continue to be creative and leveraging ways to rip off taxpayers.

  9. KC can't stand still cause it's full of meth.

  10. Taxpayer funded development for the sake of development is a Ponzi scheme.

  11. 5:02 ask everybody outside the downtown loop, we all got screwed

  12. The City is about to stop "standing still", handing every cent it can to useless "Organizations" (bicycle or jazz related or not) or to a "developer" with some unnecessary Airport or Hotel drawing.

This City is about to start moving again and doing the things a City is supposed to do, starting with making things better for its citizens.

Oh, and this City may stop lying about its "Tourism Numbers" while it gets restarted.
