MO Rage Against Downtown KC Stadium

Great bloggy arguments against developer inevitability shares our TKC anti-tax sentiment . . . Sadly, as with most of his screeds, this local scribe forgets that fiscal responsibility and common sense are almost NEVER part of political decision making. Moreover, KCMO has consistently backed a development agenda that has revealed the hypocrisy of both Conservatives AND Progressives.

This Downtown Ballpark Idea Needs to Die

How many times is the Kansas City Star going to float this absurd, outrageously expensive, completely unnecessary idea that we need to somehow vacate our perfectly good, very usable ballpark for the Kansas City Royals and build a new one in the middle of our downtown? For the love of God.

If it has to be moved, why not move it to the recently cleared bomber plant on Bannister, between Troost and Hwy 71?

  3. 8:12 , thats a interesting idea, but dont you think KCMO homicide rates are high enough as it is? and putting a stadium there would be a ton closer to the Leawood and Overland park brats for sure. but just remember that location is less than 2 miles from the old Bannister mall (RIP) which is now the new home of Cerner and KCFD station #41 nothing good ever comes from cursed grounds as Cerner intends to lay off over a hundred workers as they continue to build and expand on that property, I was concidering building a India resturaunt nearby that Cerner location, but thats on the back burner for now.

  5. MoRage, actually, a new baseball stadium would cost at least $1.2 Billion. And, with the improvements done 10 years ago, Kauffman Stadium will last another 40-50 years!!
