Mission Gateway developer says construction is likely to restart soon

Johnson County residents have seen little to no activity at a major construction site for months, but some may be happy to learn that work could resume soon for the Mission Gateway project. The development sits off Roe Avenue, between Shawnee Mission Parkway and Johnson Drive, and it comprises some of the most valuable real estate in the Kansas City area.

  1. Somebody is losing their shirt on this project. I'd predict no tenant opens doors on this before 2025. Dev will likely go tits-up before the predicted 2020 open. Sold on auction block, new dev, new incentives, rinse and repeat. 3rd dev/owner will probably be able to get something cheap opened.

The sharks and barracudas in the midwest won't bite.

  4. More lies. They stopped work because they lost financing. They said that themselves. They have lied and keep lying. This has to be a financial nightmare for the developer. The meter keeps running no mater what.

  5. Why not just just build affordable homes for first time buyers on that land?

  6. @11:43, just make sure you're not a 2nd or 3rd tier sub on it. The firsts are getting paid, you won't have enough clout to force your payments though, and it will simply be easier to drop claims.

  7. At least the "developer" on this "project" is saving lots on money on press releases.
They've used the same one over and over again for years.
"Financing has been completed and work on the project will begin next week".
How many millions of tax dollars have the taxpayers of Mission already thrown into this literally black hole?
    What a sad joke.

  8. The developer won a medium project at an eastern college to build a smaller building or dorm. He could not do it. Another company came and to finish it. What has this guy completed? By now he realizes Mission is the armpit of JOCO and its not very valuable location. Its just an old flood zone at an odd intersection.

  9. Should have just kept Mission Center there. This is Prime Real Estate and it's going to be an empty/ugly field longer than Mission Center was there

  10. This is NOT prime real estate. Prime mean its located between 119th and 150th street in the Blue Valley area. Mission is a blighted area, the abandounded Whole Foods/Wild Oats store has been sitting forever and it failed due to bad demographics. The City is corrupt, wanted to tax churches for each seat they fill, wanting to tax the use of our own driveway and police strip search soccer Moms at the Post Office in broad daylight, Once done, people from Wyandotte county will cruise south on Roe and ruin the development like they did at Bannister mall. its an armpit of the area. There is NO PRIME REAL ESTATE in Mission Ks
