A violent 2019 has inspired local lawmakers to focus on guns and work on stripping youngsters of firearms to curb the rising violence.
Here's a glimpse at the latest effort today . . .
KSHB: With new gun squad and stricter ordinances, Independence announces program to reduce gun violence
Fox4: Independence mayor wants tougher ordinance to keep guns away from teens
Examiner: To combat the uptick in gun-related crimes over the past few years, Independence Police recently formed a gun squad of four detectives and a sergeant, and it aims to send as cases it can through the local U.S. attorney's office for federal charges.

I’m sorry but you can’t stop the Amish. More laws won’t help.
ReplyDeleteCompletely useless and a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteDo these folks actually think that the guns that are doing all the killing are getting into the thugs' hands through some kind of organized process that passing a couple laws or ordinances is going to stop?
Just a continuation of willful ignorance and pointing at pretty much ANYTHING other than the actual problem.
90%+ of KCMO homicide victims are black.
At least that percentage of perpetrators are too.
The vast majority of KCMO murders take place in a 60 square-block area in the urban core.
It's not a state-wide Missouri problem, or even a KCMO city-wide problem, and it's sure not a metro-wide problem.
The issue will never even be addressed, much less solved until people in positions of responsibility for public safety have the guts to honestly define it.
Sad.
Need to call Wickham James for advise on how to reduce crime.
ReplyDeleteKCMO is going down the tubes.
ReplyDeleteMayor Weir is packing a pair of loaded 44s
ReplyDeleteCountry folk are armed to the teeth, yet there are no murders.... it's called trigger control.
