Kansas governor speaks with local union workers taking part in GM strike

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Kansas Governor Laura Kelly visited striking members of UAW Local 31 Thursday. The union, which manufactures cars at the General Motors Fairfax plant in KCK, began its strike earlier this week. Local 31 is asking General Motors for higher pay, better benefits and profit share opportunities.

  1. The GUV should be very careful. GM would like nothing better than to have another assembly plant to furlough. Having a governor visit strikers can leave an indelible mark on a facility. She just does not seem very smart.

  3. The UAW wants the public to think the autoworkers are starving. They have better insurance plans than most, better retirement and of course jobs where they can do absolutely nothing.

Don't forget, they are well paid, get huge discounts on their vehicles and the list goes on.

Sympathy they need not. When you look at their compensation they should be ashamed to go on strike when others don't have what they get and take for granted....shameful and selfish

  4. Has she purchased her new Communist China Volvo yet ? With a Yakagramma on top and 72 stickers of Green achievement locations visited.

  5. So much for the ballyhooed theory that she's a moderate. That's true only when compared against the wacko left Kansas City Star editorial board.

  6. At least they persuaded her to put her teeth in before engaging the public.
