Kansas City Toy Train Streetcar Progress Amid Ongoing Work For Fed Transit Cash

In fairness, thoughtful local advocates sent us this note that's just a bit more hopeful than our usual "folly trolley" updates and so, as always, we share the good news:

Progress continues on the KC Streetcar Main Street extension

The KC Streetcar Main Street Extension project is making steady progress with the project team recently submitting 30 percent design documents to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and making a formal request to enter the Engineering Phase of the Federal Capital Improvements Grant (CIG) New Start Program.

  3. At last check there was no gubment money coming for this thing right? If that's the case, we're willing to spend 10s, if not 100s, of millions of dollars more to extend this thing. All the problems in this town and we have money to throw at this while watching taxes on the working class go continue to rise on a regular basis?

    Makes perfect sense, smh....

  4. Everytime I see a train, it's full. I would say people have welcomed it into Kansas City just fine. The people who complain are fat ass suburbanites that are so informed on the actual issues. Do some homework jagg offs.

  5. Will be a slow ride up the hill to midtown!

If nostalgia is what the people want then let’s go full retard with a horse drawn rail line. a streetcar! plus horsies!

  6. Then they'll spend millions by 2030 to tear up the rails when everyone is using self-driving cabs and buses. White people aren't going to want to ride the streetcar once it gets non-tourists riding it.
