Kansas City Temp Jail FAIL Frightens

Downtown Kansas City residents have reason to worry as this jail can't seem to keep "guests" locked up and they've repeatedly managed to escape onto local streets and threaten the so-called "Renaissance" of new biz and upscale residents . . .

Criticism, concern after fights, escapes and death at temporary jail

KMBC 9'S WILLIAM JOY IS LIVE AT CITY HALL WITH WHAT HE SAID. REPORTER: MIDNIGHT WILL MARK EXACTLY THREE MONTHS SINCE THE CITY STARTED USING HEARTLAND CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL CHANGE. THE MAYOR TOLD ME HE'S NOT HAPPY WITH HOW IT'S GONE, AND THE FACILITY'S LEADER SAID THEY HAVEN'T LIVED UP TO THEIR OWN STANDARD THIS IS A DIFFICULT AND CHALLENGING SITUATION.

How is it that my dorm at Wichita State could stop us from sneaking out, but this place can't???

Our dorm was staffed at night by a 250 lb woman who took 90 seconds just to lumber to the door to let us in or out. I bet she'd take this job here...
