Kansas City Talker Johnny Dare Ghost Roasting Craig Glazer Speaks Of Desperation

A brief contemplation for Sunday night because that's all it deserves . . .

Over the past week 98.9 talker Johnny Dare has been dancing on the grave of late comedy club owner Craig Glazer. The postmortem ad hominem attacks are pretty much the same barbs that Johnny Dare threw at Craig whilst he was still within this mortal coil but this time around they're just a bit more pointed with no laughing reply from the late local media impresario.

First and foremost, Johnny Dare pokes fun and tells his audience that Craig Glazer doesn't have a tombstone.

The talker's revenge fantasy: All of the comics who Mr. Glazer owed would chip in and sign their name to an eternal invoice that would serve as a grave maker.

Of course, Johnny Dare still gripes about the $30K+ he claims he was owed by Craig Glazer. This is a longstanding complaint now dating back nearly 20 years . . . And that's our main complaint here.

Craig Glazer is gone. It's questionable how much he can really captivate audiences in his present condition. Meanwhile, Johnny Dare hasn't bothered to come up with much new material since his glory days in the 90s and now he's arguing with ghosts. All the while audiences continue to turn to Internet streaming and satellite options rather than deal with the litany of commercials and old jokes which terrestrial radio still thrusts upon listeners. Johnny Dare is no longer the king of Kansas City radio and plodding through the parabolic mire to berate a deceased jester just seems pathetic.

To be fair, it's comforting to check in with Johnny Dare from time to time just to do a wellness check on the aging jock that never made it out of this cowtown market.

The bigger picture --  A wise man in tights once wrote something to the effect of . . .

“Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”

A slightly better writer who got his start in Kansas City referenced the statement in a lesser work sometime before he stuck his head in front of a shotgun that he also used to murder some of the world's most majestic beasts.

And we hope all of this gives our most dedicated readers something to contemplate for the late night hours. Hopefully, we'll have just a bit more for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!

    1. C'mon. Don't be a hater that tombstone idea is hilarious and something that would have made Craig laugh.

  2. Tony must not really know Johnny's net worth. Johnny may have never made it out of Kansas City but he may have never wanted to. The point being he made his name and made his money and is enjoying the hell out of life now while traveling all over. Johnny wisely invested his money over the years except when he let Craig talk him into that stupid bar idea. That was the one huge mistake in Johnny's life and he knows it to this day. Johnny could probably have done the deal with any of a number of people and the place still be open for business today. Craig and success were two things that would never know one another no matter what anyone else cares to try and explain. Craig Glazer was never a true business man and was always one step ahead of being totally broke and bankrupt. If Craig has any crap thrown at him it is more than likely deserved. Craig made it a dailey point to make sure everyone else knew how great and far better than everyone else he was. Craig also did his fair share to berate the deceased every chance he got and as well would suddenly seemed to also be long lost friends with the deceased when they were no longer around to dispute such. So anyone berating Craig Glazer after his death is more than likely justified in doing so and telling the whole and real truth on the matter.

Johnny Dare has done more for Kansas City and is known more in Kansas City and the world than Craig Glazer could have ever dreamed of accomplishing.

  6. The biggest jerk-off from radio past in KC is Randy Miller, followed closely by Johnny Rowlands. And also, that old fart from 610 in the mornings. He was popular, but sucked as a human being. While I'm at it, Bill Grigsby was from the same brood as the 610 guy. I even forgot his name. Don Fortune, well let's just say the little man was a big snot.

  7. Tracy Thomas—-Did you notice that Hearne’s website went dark? Or is that common knowledge and I need to keep up?

  10. I enjoyed working with Stan and Craig to oppose Cronkite Waldo Barnes for mayor; to include Glorioso and Mike Burke.
They had the courage to stand up against Cordish and the rest that will hasten KC to bankruptcy.

  12. Stay left of 92 FM on the dial plenty of good public radio music in KC. Four excellent stations for music, just egnore the left wing commie talking parts.

  14. All I know is that Craig's demise was almost amazing as it was quick. I don't know the exact sequence but around Mar of last year 1. his brother died 2. he shut down his comedy club for good 3. he had to move out of his condo to a small apartment 4. Stan's(his dad)stuff went up for auction, probably because it had been stashed in his condo or some storage 5. he stopped blogging for the now defunct kcconfidential.com 6. he took his last taxi ride to the hospital, and beat up the taxi driver 7. Craid died a few days later in Aug, 18--age 65 8. His beloved dog Junior died the same exact week!
Incredible all this happened in such a short period of time. And get this, I believe former KC Chief Ted McKnight arranged to have Craig buried in the cemetery that is closest possible to Arrowhead. A very perfect place for Craig to be buried because he truly loved the Chiefs almost as he loved Junior!
Craig truly was the big fish in the little pond called KC!
