KANSAS CITY STAR SEYZ PLAZA ART FAIR 'GUN FREE ZONE' WILL SAVE LIVES!!!

Right now a Kansas City Star editorial is attempting to hijack the liberty of law abiding gun owners in order to create the illusion of safety.

Checkit:

Kansas City Star: Why won’t Missouri lawmakers allow a weapons ban at KC’s Plaza Art Fair?

Argument . . .

"It may come as a disturbing surprise that at least some fairgoers will likely be armed. While Missouri law prohibits gun possession in lots of places — police stations, near a polling place, behind airport security, at schools — it does not ban guns at large, outdoor public street gatherings, including the Plaza Art Fair."

Not a surprise at all for people who actually know the law in KCMO.

And here the newspaper rides the corpse of a dead woman to make a point . . .

"This summer’s tragic shooting death of a young woman at a First Friday gathering suggests lawmakers should add outdoor festivals to the list of places where guns are prohibited. If that isn’t possible, the Missouri legislature should at least allow festivals to seek temporary gun bans, or allow local governments to consider issuing time-limited gun-free zone permits.

"There is no legitimate reason to carry a weapon at the Plaza Art Fair, or any other large outdoor gathering. Even the most-cited motivation — for self-protection, or to deter others from bringing or using weapons — rings hollow."

Actually, not it doesn't . . . Crooks looking to prey on victims on the Plaza would do well to understand that there are a great many law-abiding citizens who are also packing heat and ready to shoot back. This is the Midwest, old dudes, women, hipsters and even OGs without a record CCW thanks to strong 2nd Amendment protections in Jeff City. Given the limited success of homicide reduction efforts and strained resources of police. This might be the only thing keeping many local safe.

More importantly . . .

IS THE KANSAS CITY STAR SO NAIVE, MYOPIC AND IMMATURE TO BELIEVE THAT GUN-TOTING CRIMINALS WILL VOLUNTARILY OBEY "GUN FREE ZONE' RULES?!?! OR ARE THEY JUST MISLEAD THEIR LAST REMAINING READERS???

Fact it, the Plaza art fair doesn't really draw the "diverse" crowd that the Crossroads did and most of the trouble around the event is far away from the pack in parking lots, on the walk home and around the perimeter of the festival . . . In this instance, yes, CCW might save lives and thwart and/or discourage criminals from preying on vulnerable people.

And so we ask . . .

DO YOU AGREE WITH THE KANSAS CITY STAR: WILL GUN-FREE-ZONE LAWS KEEP THE PLAZA SAFE?!?!?

You decide . . .

  3. How many mass public shootings occur in gun-free zones and how many occur in areas not declared gun-free? As one who wishes not to be shot, I avoid gun-free zones at all costs.

  4. Just another attempt to chip away at our rights by the Left. The Star is just trying to sell a flashy cereal box....and then when you get it home and try it it tastes like xxxx.

  5. Let’s declare Kansas City to be a crime free zone.
All criminals will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and serve the maximum jail time.

  6. ^^^and yet they don't and that's a patently false and stupid narrative for the simple-minded among us. Weird.

  7. So we're supposed to imagine that the kinds of people who kill eight year-old boys in their beds and fire indiscriminately into a crowd at First Fridays are reading about declaring the Art Fair a "no gun zone" with dismay because now they can't continue to behave the same way?
The Art Fair would be better advised to waste its time declaring that it's not acceptable for it to rain on Saturday and Sunday.
    Equally pointless and ineffectual.
Does the "prohibition" extend to the parking garages?

    1. Hmm, you'd probably lose them at "read". I'd doubt most of these criminal thugs can read or speak English beyond a 3rd grade level.

  8. Welcome to Missouri. If you dont like the law, fucking leave already. People have been packing guns around here since before Missouri was officially a state. The Kansas City Star will be in the trash bin of history soon enough. Tell Steve Krasky that there are plenty of jobs available at the temp agency.

  9. ^^^^^^

You tell em Kohl! I'm also sick of the new liberals from California moving to Missouri and then trying to change us into the the toilet they just moved from.
Don't like my gun? Too bad you're not getting it.

  13. Seems like we are going back to the old West. Everyone's got a gun on their belt. And for what? That guy looked at me, i'll just shoot him. Deciding weather to ban guns or not from events, is kinda stupid. If the event is held outside in Normally public spaces, and no law prevents it, then why worry about it. some will carry and some won't carry.

  14. What Plaza Art Fair? The former clown suited mayor has turned even that into a cheap half baked street carnival.

  15. It was already illegal for that chimp who shot the girl at first friday to possess a handgun so I guess there's that. If anything we need more legally armed citizens at the art fests

  16. The Kansas City Star is way off on this subjectthe reason why somebody would have a concealed weapon at any outdoor Fair is to protect themselves and others from criminals who do not respect the life indecency of others and only care about their self centered intentions. the kansasstars should just look at the own statistics about the power and light district about the high crime rate around the district and that should tell her why people should be able to have concealed carry

A human can kill without a gun but a gun cannot kill without a human.

Anyway expect SLie and Quinton diving into the bushes at least once during the art fair.

  18. Ever heard of the Remington bolt action rifle that killed more people by accident than any other rifle? Like the Ford Pinto it was cheaper to fight each case in court rather than do a recall?

  19. Those with evil on their mind pay no attention to laws and gun bans. Gun free zones are what the criminals love to hang out in.

  20. I will never patronize the Plaza again.

  22. I WOULD BLOW MY BRAINS OUT IF I HAD TO GO TO THAT LIBERAL FAGGOT FEST! I THINK ALL WHITE LIBS SHOULD HAVE ALL GUNS TAKEN AWAY AT ONCE BUT NOT THE BLACKS LET THEM KEEP ALL THE AK 47S THAT THEY WANT BUT FOR THE FAGGOT LIBERALS NOT SO MUCH.

  23. Even if the art fair has no shootings, there will still be plenty of car break-ins, theft and other crime to give attendees the real KC experience.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Why don’t they just declare the Plaza Art Fair to be a murder-free zone? Violating it is punishable by probation from Jean Petersucker Baker.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Let’s be clear the thug that shot the girl on first Friday was a criminal when he decided to open fire into a crowd. That is not a law abiding gun owner.

  26. CCW all day everyday. Be safe my law abiding citizens. You are the first line of defense for your loved ones, yourself and your property.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I will go to the art fair and CCW. State law allows CCW. You can just make up areas to prohibit guns without a state legislator vote.
