1 seriously injured after vehicle wreck on 71 Highway and Cleaver II Boulevard

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - One person is seriously injured after a vehicle wreck Sunday night. Officers were called to 71 Highway and Cleaver II Boulevard just before 10:15. Police told KCTV5 News that one person was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. This is a developing story.

Reminder this is not only the most dangerous stretch of road in KC but also the most inconvenient because during Cleaver's tenure the city denied federal funding to make this part of I-49. This is a huge mess from the city and they would rather rename streets and endorse marches about climate change than make the city a safer and more convenient place for those on the east side

Bruce Watkins was intended to be both a parkway (like Ward Parkway) and an expressway (like Southwest Expressway), but it is neither - it's just a death trap with at grade crossings, highway speeds and a weed and litter filled medium where housing and neighborhoods once stood. One of KC's biggest mistakes.
