Kansas City Builds Alhaven Homeless HIV/AIDS Teen Housing Near Troost Divide

First and foremost, this project is for the best, a worthwhile humanitarian effort and it's part of morning news cycle hype bought and paid for with taxpayer support.

But we can't help notice that most of the people hyping this last chance housing don't have a permanent residence anywhere near it. In fact, the area remains pretty desolate despite an uptick in biz and sketchy hipster housing speculation about a mile up the road.

Newsies don't know where Midtown is but offer a good overview anyway: "A lot near 31st and Harrison will soon be home to Alhaven: 50 units of affordable housing-25% of those units will be for young adults who have an HIV diagnosis - @SaveInc and @VecinoGroup are working together on this project. Should be complete in about a year."

To which Mayor Lucas responds:

"Proud to see this project in our city that combines neighborhood reinvestment, truly #affordablehousing development, and opportunities for care and comfort for those--particularly young folks--living with HIV. #KCMO #KansasCity"

  7. 10:05: Yes. I live just a few blocks away. And I live around the corner from where another murder in Waldo took place a few years ago, so go back to your regularly scheduled show on MeTV.

10:14: Waldo is not midtown, so who is "we," since you don't even know where Waldo is?

10:21: Not Section 8; it's a building for people who have aged out of foster care.
