Fair Play: Jackson County Exec Frank White Conversation With Mark Alford On Courthouse Property Tax Assessment Hot Mess

We talked about Frank White's absence from recent conversations about the current property tax mess and pointed questions about the process . . . We stand by that post and notice the County keeping quiet as of late.

However, in the interest of fairness and public info, here's a somewhat recent talk with the Exec from the beginning of the Summer regarding the property tax assessment drama and how it will impact residents.

There are a few good questions in the mostly friendly conversation at the outset of a crisis that continues to worsen.

  1. Nice effort but he didn't answer two big questions:

Why were the assessments based on "imagery" and not physical assessment as the law requires?

E-mails indicate county officials knew about this problem for more than a year. What did Frank know and when did he know it.

We all know how assessments work, Frank explaining it is not an interview or a conversation, it's just spin.

    1. ^^^^ Good questions.

      Another commenter mentioned this earlier.

You can't blame Frank for knowing when to stop talking, sometime in July he realized that his charisma wasn't going to get him out of this mess.

  4. The words "Frank White" and "executive" being used in the same sentence is an oxmoronic joke.

  5. Yeah, no. These were softball questions tossed out by a soft headed Fox 4 TV personality. A real reporter would have been prepared to follow up about Frank's friends getting special favors on their assessments, like the lawyer who got his mansion assessed at about one-sixth of its value. That would be the same lawyer who "loaned" Frank the money to get out of foreclosure.

  6. Not impressed. Sit down with the investigative reporter from channel five who did some real reporting and found those emails that show Frank and Gail have been lying all summer about the accuracy of their assessment process. Answer her questions.

  7. Frank talks about getting things done "right." Meanwhile, behind the scenes his handpicked staff is talking about how they know what they are doing is wrong. He's either a liar or completely incompetent.

  8. Little mark Alford doesn’t know how to interview! That’s the moral of this story!

  9. Time to give up the morning chair to Rob Collins!
