Coach's Demolition And Busted Infrastructure Redux: KCMO Still Bad For Biz???

Constant flooding cleared out biz from this Southland strip mall near 103rd & Wornall and as the rainy season awaits, we can only hope 12th & Oak has stepped up their game in responding to a litany of local infrastructure concerns.

Coach's restaurant to be demolished 2 years after owners were rescued from floodwaters

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Two years after the owners had to be rescued from rising floodwaters that destroyed Coach's restaurant and other businesses at 103rd Street and Wornall Avenue, the building is coming down. The former Coach's restaurant is set to be demolished late Monday morning.

  4. Only took the City two years to demolish the building? Wow, that's super fast in City Hall World. Word to developers - don't build in flood plains, rock slide areas or next to hog slaughtering companies. Word to buyers - don't buy in this places.

  6. I used to live in that neighborhood in the early '70s and was astounded that the city granted a building permit for the site, as it frequently flooded. Developers didn't care, saw a buck in it, and built anyway. First business on the Coach's site was the Pizza Paddle, a mom-and-pop restaurant with great pizza and the coldest beer in town. We were regulars, especially after a round of tennis.
