  2. Whoa! Cerner is/was a giant with very good pay/benefits. This is very interesting. Uhhh... I guess they didn’t need to buy all of the Bannister Mall site, either., especially if their building footprint took up maybe 1/8 of the available land they purchased.

  3. Not all layoffs are bad. Thanks to TKC for the description. If Cerner is willing to trim the fat and cut jobs to stay in profitability, that's usually a good sign. Local news doesn't like to be cruel and seems to downplay news that the news of the firings actually paused a recent drop in their stock.

  4. when a local employer lays off 250 people that's big news no matter what their motivations

  5. Worked there for a while. Cerner did pay well as long as you were willing to be a galley slave for them. But I've never seen a company waste so much money, and so many of its customers were so unhappy.

  6. Welcome Bag holders. Cerner got over a billion in local taxpayer subsidies.

    Where'd it go?

  7. Cerner equates with dreck products, their skill was in sales and buying the business. Look at the VA mess they created.

  8. Cerner used to be located right across from NKC hospital. But NKC dumper Cerner software as it didn't work. Cerner wants those parking lots full on Sundays, full of its workers coding - just ignore the commandment from God about the sabbath.....it finanally caught up with Cerner. Right Amber????

  11. If you want to feel like just a number, work at Cerner. That place is one of the most unfriendly and coldly detached (call it "clinical") places to work in the Midwest. Most of the high-level execs are only good at playing corporate politics -- and CYA -- and little else. Their competitors are running circles around them. Cerner has acquired other companies over the years, which has caused more IT headaches and customer issues than the company would ever admit. Neil Patterson passing away is not going to help matters, since he at least had some skills as a visionary.

  12. What will all the employees from India do? - They send their paycheck each and every week back to the motherland...I guess go back to the motherland...go Cerner GO!! BTW Cerner is a burn'em and churn'em company anyway which is why only dumb people from India buy into their BS and they have a workforce. The only thing good about Cerner is, is that it prompted Quik Trip to relocate from Bannister and 435 to 87th and 435 after Cerner tore down the whore and drug motel on the old Bannister Mall property. Whats great is our Fire Station is smack dab in the middle of Cerner property and those India woman can suck a mean dick!!

  14. In a 2016 interview, Cliff Illig talked about how he, late CEO Neal Patterson and Paul Gorup — all of whom worked for Arthur Andersen at the time — gathered at a picnic table in Loose Park in 1979 and wrote a business plan for a software company that would become Cerner.

  15. They really don't need a layoff. I hear people are quitting left and right. Yes. Corner will suck the life out of you.

  18. I suspect this won't be the end of layoffs at Cerner. An activist investor equity firm is producing some sway now. The stock has been stagnant for a while and they want to change that.
