TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! ROCK ISLAND CORRIDOR SHUT DOWN CONFIRMS KCMO TRANSIT CHEERLEADER CORRUPTION!!!

The Rock Island Corridor scheme was dreamed up by two former Kansas City politicos who were ultimately sentenced to time in the federal pen.

Sadly, local transit "activists" also garnered a bit of cash from this scheme and touted the project as "transformative" despite some serious land purchase problems which brought about the demise of the endeavor.

Sadly, this news item was lost in the mix this week . . .

Federal ruling stops work on Rock Island Corridor

Apropos for #TBT, let's not forget that this scheme had the support of just about every major politico in town . . .

Here's the aftermath from a TKC reader . . .

"Taxpayers have put in probably close to $100-million for this project and it might all be for nothing because of incompetence. That's money the KCATA could have been using to green the bus fleet and provide service."

What's worse is that there are still politically connected and completely corrupt locals earning their salary from this swindle . . . The legacy of this project continues to tarnish local transit efforts and it's only federal intervention that really put a stop to this nightmare.

Nevertheless, KC transit politicking for more contracts & cash continues to be disguised as "advocacy" despite one con after the next coming to a tragic conclusion with little benefit to voters or the public.

Developing . . .

I see Frank White in that photo smiling pretty. His role in this has always been very weird.

Skippy, we never knew you.

The $450 million Bike Walk KC wants will also be a waste of taxpayer money.

This was always going to turn out horribly. Surprised that only two people connected to this also spent time in the big house.

Skippy the scammer. We all remember him, how could we forget when so many of his friends are still around.

Skippy should serve extra time for this ripoff. I figure he owes about 50 million. Might help the property tax deal.

Appears the assessment department has already solved the problem of who is going to pay for the losses.

Hope the Feds take a hard long look at the streetcar extension and all the racketeers running that con.

Shouldn't be any surprise that a handful of insiders cashed in on yet another deal.
Neither Jackson County or KCMO governments are about public policy and providing residents the services they need.
Both are simply pass-throughs for taxpayer dollars to selected insiders, consultants, campaign contributors, and friends.
An endless supply of someone else's money.
What could possibly go wrong?

While this may seem like a lot of money, it’s not.
I just asked AOC and she said it was an absolute right. I asked how we can pay for it- she said to just do it.
While some might argue she is as dumb as a bag of rocks- not me.
I want to get my rocks off- on the Rock Island bike trail.

Frank "The Fuck Up" White signed on the dotted line for this project. And remember he gave Slick Mike Sanders a $60,000 "consulting" contract after Sanders resigned as county executive, the consultation supposedly for finalizing this BS deal. Tens of millions of dollars wasted. FIRE FRANK NOW!!!

Jail fiasco. COMBAT fiasco. Assessment fiasco. This fiasco. Frank White is the fiasco king.

Including his handpicked successor for county executive. There's a reason Sanders wanted Frank White to replace him as executive.

Maybe so 9:42, but it’s the Charter style government that is the base for lousy government and bureaucratic friends of friends running this bad ship into the ground. They once had an Assessor, for example, who was elected in a non charter county, but the powerful developers got rid him, Curtis something?

One of Sanders' old crew is running the KCATA, a job he's not remotely qualified for. I can't believe how many of Skippy's people are still around with their hands in the cookie jar.

Time to eliminate the county executive position. Let us elect assessor, collector, commissioners, then hire a professional manager.

This just in.....the first major collision occurred today in North Kansas City after they installed plantings (?) bike lanes, and weird parking spaces on Armour Road near the post office. Don't know if anyone was hurt, but this will be the first of many crashes in this already tight space. Whose idea was this, NKC?

10:22 beat me to it. Driving thru NKC on Armour Wednesday proved to be an obstacle course experience. Really strange pathways all over, but couldn't spare much time looking while avoiding a wreck. Wasting of big bucks has finally arrived at a one time jewel in the metro. Somebody knew a contractor and developer and had an idea how to fuck up a pretty efficient East/West thoroughfare while picking up some nice pocket change. Sad.

Looks like an ambitious project to me we need more forward-thinking like this.

^^true that. too many cry-baby geezers ruin a blog.

@9:55, Curtis Koons. He was hand in hand with one of the biggest "developers" in KCMO/Jackson Co: Wayne Reeder. Koons also headed up a huge increase in assessments which eventually led him to the chopping block during the next election.
