TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! MUST READ: NORTHEAST NEWS WARNS AGAINST KANSAS CITY VAGRANT HOBO CRISIS!!!

Important public service journalism that also offers insight into the struggles of urban core news gathering.

Checkit:

Northeast News: Tipping Point

The vagrant population who continually refuse opportunities for day labor work and resources offered by social service agencies, preferring instead to live off the grid, scrapping for a living and begging at street corners and bus stops, and creating not only a public nuisance, but also a public health crisis given their hygiene, or lack thereof.

Northeast News has reached the end of our patience putting up with the out-of-control transient and vagrant population explosion that is currently gripping the city’s urban core.

Read the op/ed in its entirety because it's certainly one of the most honest insights into the hot mess that's only getting worse.

And so, given that last year's panhandling ordinance was shut down, we ask our blog community . . .

IS THE NORTHEAST NEWS TOO TOUGH ON HOBO VAGRANTS OR HAS IS THE DERELICT POPULATION EXPLOSION ENDANGER KANSAS CITY?!?!?

You decide . . .

  1. Cleaning up KC starts here. But the last time we tried to do something all of the "activists" said it was cruel to prevent so much panhandling at every damn stoplight int town.

    1. It's good that NE News isn't really talking about homeless here, these are drug addicts mostly and they refuse any real help. They just want free meals and more resources.

  2. If people didn't give these street corner beggars food, liquor and money, they wouldn't stand there and bum free shit.

  3. KCMO really doesn't want to get rid of too many of these folks.
Just remember that they're a sizable part of the 25 million/year tourist count.
As well as a big part of THE streetcar's ridership.
The narrative needs everyone it can find.
    Momentum!

  5. I'm quilty. Sometimes I break down and give them a few dollars. One guy had a sign that said I don't lie I need money for drugs. I laughed but didn't give into him.

  6. Probably be another 30,000 hobos after the new property tax bills arrive.

  7. I’m disabled, twice the age of these bums and I work full time
    I have no sympathy

  8. But doesn't everyone remember what Nancy Pelosi said? Go ahead and quit your job and do what you want to do the Gov will give you more bang for your buck. She said that!

  9. you're using the wrong terms, Tony. Hobos are people that travel around for work. If you're lounging around panhandling for money so you can get drunk you're not a hobo.

    1. She said, and I’m paraphrasing here,” it will nice not to have have a job so you can stay home and creative”
She said that during the debates on Obamacare
Her belief was that people have jobs for the sole reason of buying health insurance
She said a lot more idiotic things, but there aren’t enough years in one lifetime to post them all

  11. Happy to help the involuntarily and temporarily homeless get back on their feet. The bums are on their own.

  13. Day labor ain't worth shitting on and any job that doesn't pay a living wage ain't worth getting outta bed. You can scrape by without working yourself to death for someone else
