TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY POLICE UNION DEMANDS MORE OFFICERS AMID WORSENING 2019 HOMICIDE SPIKE!!!

Our blog community STARTED THIS CONVERSATION SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND NOW IT'S NEWS FACT . . .

KCTV5: Police union contends having fewer officers has made KC less safe

Deets:

There have been 97 homicides in Kansas City so far this year. Brad Lemon, President of The Fraternal Order of Police, told KCTV5 News that Kansas City’s police force was at its highest in 2007 with 1,422 officers.

“When you decide to cut 100 or more police officers from the police department and pretend the city's going to stay safe as it was is just not possible,” Lemon said.

With budget cuts came fewer and fewer police officers. As of July 31, the Kansas City Police Department had a budget for 1,359 officers, with 44 open positions.

Here's what's missing from the conversation . . .

In 1968 after the MLK riots Black leaders, police administrators AND elected officials came together to try to address how to make Kansas City safer and the goal of putting 1500 officers on local streets was put forward. MORE THAN 50 YEARS LATER KCMO HAS FAILED to keep that promise.

When we talk about real life benchmarks for the new administration amid the current deadly murder spree, MORE COPS ON LOCAL STREETS IS AN ACHIEVABLE GOAL that needs to be at the forefront of the City Hall conversation because it's is much more productive than so much reactionary hateration, anti-gun rhetoric or social justice blather.

  1. More police? Did you mean to write MORE PIZZA?

That was the plan for the last 4 years.

    1. Why hire police when you can just offer more incentives to get to the root cause of crime? Supposing that the root cause of crime is the dearth of consulting contracts.

  2. 60% of the budget already goes to public safety. Sorry but you can't throw money at the problem and pretend like it will work. This is just another another employment program. No thanks.

  3. More officers won’t do shit. Stop feeding into the hype. KCPD does not know how to use their officers efficiently. If they were a company they would have been bankrupt. More officers and more taxes is a mistake.

  6. Operation Triple Beam hardly put a dent in the problem here obviously judging from this past weekend.

  7. They could put a cop on every street corner and it wouldn't make any difference. A cop could stand right next to a person and it wouldn't protect that person from getting shot. The criminals aren't afraid of the cops or anyone else.

  8. If black people truly want respect they would start telling the police who all the murderers are, until then, they get no respect from nobody.

  9. KC needs to fire a few hundred Democrat greedy Firefighter union slobs..sitting around the station watching porn..

and use the savings to hire more cops, and get them out on the streets.

  10. It is time to bring in Omni Consumer Products (OCP). OCP is a multi-national corporation on the leading edge of technological advances within the military-industrial complex. OCP's diverse portfolio includes military hardware, automobiles, entertainment, weaponry, prison management and private police forces. OCP brings a unique understanding of law enforcement in high crime ridden urban areas along with technical and policing programs to combat crime in the 21st century.

  11. Sly James eliminated police officers on purpose it's always been a black issue and he did it because the man refuses to believe his own people are the problem. He's ignorant and doesn't know any better. Kansas City is so far gone I don't think it will recover it will only get worse. There are too many democrats that are unstable in their thinking and when things get bad they run to the republicans for help like they did when they ran to Roy Blunt years ago. Sort of funny Blunt wouldn't help them and I don't blame him because they turn right around and make the same mistakes so it's really useless. Best thing for our city is a forced purge.

  12. ^^^ sLIE is still mad at the popo since very early into him being mayor why you ask? Because they kept arresting his no good worthless son who kept threatening people with a gun that’s why. sLIE finally had to ship his son out because of all the trouble he was causing so instead of blaming his son he blamed the popo so he rendered them pretty much useless. TRUE.

  13. ^^and yet sly is no longer the mayor and not relevant whatsoever to this thread. Weird.

  14. ^^ You think Sly's legacy with the police department isn't still lingering? New mayor has been in office for two weeks. Weird.
