TKC FACT CHECK: KANSAS CITY 'NEWS' SHUT DOWN BY FIREFIGHTERS!!!

With all due respect, the Kansas City firefighters don't answer to journalists, elected officials or police when it comes to the inner workings of their department.

We'll tread carefully because it's not that interesting as union membership continues it's long, downward spiral whilst pension debt is pushing KCMO toward bankruptcy sometime in the next decade.

A few topics that our blog community has talked about for months but newsies struggle to get on the record . . .

- This year FD drama got physical and violence among the top brass isn't a personnel issue but should be a matter of PUBLIC RECORD.

- Already there's resistance against A GROUNDBREAKING MOVE FOR A NEW LADY CHIEF . . . The old guard wants yet another shot at control and their reign dates back to the bad old days of the 70s strike-era.

- New Mayor Quinton owes the Firefighters an election debt and HE'S NOT STRONG ENOUGH to demand any reform or transparency. Don't expect him to ask.

Don't mistake any of this fire KCFD hateration . . .

There has actually been a pretty decent debate in the comments noting that the KCFD rank & file mostly abhor the politics of their leadership as much as everybody else.

No, they're not gonna give up their overtime without a fight but neither would anybody else.

The glimmer of hope: Traditional fire departments are changing as the need for fire suppression continues to diminish and the future of most American fire departments is to provide EMT service.

From an election and policy perspective . . .

Old school KCFD leaders lost the race to capture votes in Kansas City's fastest growing community.

THE NORTHLAND IS COPLAND and the fire union now must compete with increasingly politically motivated police union leaders for relevance, control and the biggest portion of the public safety pie that dominates the KCMO budget.

Meanwhile . . .

The news blackout on the latest FD shenanigans continues whilst "journalists" attempt to present a plausible and politically expedient version of recent KCFD upheaval that might actually resemble something close to the reality of the situation.

Developing . . .

  1. Here's what you forgot TKC.

A lot of FD don't even want to live in KC and they look forward to the day when unconstitutional residency requirements are removed. That's the only REAL change that will transform the department.

If you work for the city, you should live here.

    2. ^^ Really? That's not how the earnings tax works. It's a fine for people in Joco and doesn't give KC any moral clarity when it comes to residency.

Also last thing this city needs is a Lady Chief!

  3. 8:10 What a stupid thing to say. BTW KC is running out of people to work for the city they might be forced to change their primitive ways.

The KCFD probably uses the funds derived from selling guns out the backdoor of the firehouse to help people in need.

  6. A key sentence in the article is that fire suppression is diminishing. Increasing is the need for ambulances to transport all the shooting victims to the hospital or morgue each day in Killa City. Let’s buy more ambulances and less fire trucks, hire more EMTs and less fire fire fighters and change their hours to 40 hours a week and 5 day.

Too bad we won't have any leadership from the council on this. They're supposed to run the fire department, not the other way around.

  9. ^^who cares if he's a homosexual? If you do, you must be really really, really, old.

  10. i don’t care who is a homosexual. I just don’t think it is appropriate for an elected official to be a homosexual and suck cock and get buttfucked all the time.

  13. Oh, so there's less fires. Then, how about selling off some big rigs, cutting personnel, and switching some stations to medical response staff and medical equipment only? That's what the #5 ranked for murder momentum KC needs more of, huh?

THEN, THE RESIDENCES, BUSINESSES, AGRICULTURAL AREAS, AND ALL TRAVELERS THROUGH THE AREAS THAT WILL HAVE LONGER RESPONSE TIMES DUE TO LESS FD SERVICES AVAILABLE CAN JUST BITE IT, RIGHT? Too bad for them. Well, if it affects you, you might want to adjust your insurance coverages accordingly.

And, with less rigs, who decides whose neighborhoods deserve longer waits for fire response? Sure, major fire and HazMat events don't happen weekly, so let's have the money that is not spent on those big fire rigs and rosters and such go to touristy FREE ride streetcars--an unnecessary airport rebuild--new hotels oversupply--traffic snarling bike lanes--and, subsidized entertainment districts! Oops, I meant, give those rebates to the good taxpayers, since there's going to be HUGE AMOUNTS NOT GOING TO FD FUNDING. AMIRITE?

When the FD personnel, proficiencies, and equipment are sufficient, THE CAPABILITIES FOR MANDATED RESPONSE TIMES ARE ENHANCED!

  14. All the city unions want their people living in killa shitty because it’s voting power, nothing more nothing less, the city really doesn’t give a shit one way or another as long as your ass is at work on time.

    ReplyDelete
  15. There’s still the same amount of fires reported, just not many major ones. Younpeople forget that the pumpers and trucks have to respond to car crashes and medical stuff, they are busy. Just sayin people.

    ReplyDelete
  16. KCMO needs to hire a professional negotiator for the next FD contract. They need to reduce pension contributions. Allow those who live within the city boundaries, verify too, to not pay earnings tax. If pension is based upon pay, do not include OT. Plus other things that will make it part of their problem not the citizens only problem.

  17. David Koch is dead and you killed him!

    ReplyDelete
  18. If the city needs more revenue to pay for firemen pensions, there are a few things that could be streamlined to help!

    1. Why does a fire truck have to be dispatched on every ambulance call! Can’t the paramedics take care of the situation and transport the victim to the hospital? Unless there is also a fire of course. Seems this would save a helluva lot of funds!

    2. Why does an entire fire truck loaded with firemen have to go grocery shopping! And don’t say because if there is a fire the truck has to be available and loaded with men ready to respond! Because if that’s your explanation, then leave the entire crew at the firehouse and hire a minimum wage employee to grocery shop for several firehouses all week long!

I just don’t get all the waste of time money and resources that keep us locked into this inefficient process! The fire department seems to waste a lot! Not saying the other departments don’t waste too it’s just these 2 examples comes to my mind immediately with the fire department!

Seriously, somebody explain it! Besides the normal turds who can only name call because they have nothing else!

    1. Answer to 1. They are sometimes closer. I dont know if you realized this country has a weight problem. Alot of calls the ambulance crews are doing ivs medical stuff fire assist with this and moving patients for transport. Get a person who weighs 250 to 300 lbs have him lay in bed and try to move him to the floor.
Answer to 2. If the truck all must go thats just the way it is. When i was still working for fd if we had a person on modified duty who was hurt we would utilize them to do are shopping if possible.
If you want to see what goes on at your local fd go there sign up for a 24 ride along. We can fit you in on your schedule as we are there 24 7 365 days a year

    2. 1:42, So, an occasional short trip in a rig by Fire Departments with duty shifts of 24on/48off, with 4 on shift--a Captain, a driver, and 2 FFs--MAKING A RUN TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD GROCER, NEARBY DINER, BBQ JOINT, OR A LOCAL CATHOLIC CHURCH'S LENTEN FISH FRY doesn't get most of the taxpayers whiney. Decent people get it that each crew has to supply their own 3 meals per day at 3 to 4 workdays per 7 days. Don't forget to calculate the daily meals by considering there are at least a dozen persons on a firehouse roster. Damn, that would take ALOT OF FRIDGE AND FREEZER SPACE TO STASH A WEEK'S SUPPLY OF FRESH EATS FOR THAT MANY MEALS! Imagine all those Ziplock bags, Rubbermade bowls, brown bags, jars, bottles, and milk jugs with 12 different names taped on them. Sorting through that jigsaw jumble each meal sounds like a bother. Sure, cereal bars, protein powders, pistachios, and chips don't crowd the fridge. But, the real meal makings do.

So, let the fire guys and gals of each shift put their nickles together, and run to get some good food, once or twice per month. REALLY....NO BFD!

  19. ^^You don't seem capable of understanding if I explain it to you. Why waste time?

  20. God Bless the simps, lowlifes, cheapskates, and FD & PD haters that cry because Killa City has to spend much tax revenues for emergency response services. Hey, goobers and gangsters, it's not optional for municipalities to choose whether or not their cowtowns and shooting galleries habs 'nuff popos, farr, 'n amboolances, y'all. Yes, from the hicksvilles to the hoods, public safety entities are required and regulated by gummints....local and beyond. The KC population densities, geographics, and more, determine minimum service levels for the lovely #5 ranked murder momentum City of Somewhat Functional Fountains!

Costs for emergency response personnel should not be cut too much on salaries. The vast majority of FD and PD families share their wealth in their communities. They buy tickets to lots of events--shop local--buy new and near new vehicles--contribute school supplies--take underserved kids Christmas shopping--volunteer for community projects like Habitat home builds, Christmas In October home repairs, community Secret Santa, medical needs fundraising, and more.

So, really, if you can't be respectful and grateful for the FD, PD, EMTs, and Sherriff personnel....DO NOT dial 911....JUST JUMP INTO THE BUSHES!!!

  22. ^^^^fire fighters are nothing more than highly paid EMTs. Their mission has changed from one of mostly fire suppression to fire prevention, EMT and heavy rescue. Take the emotion out of it. It makes no business sense to continue to write the department a blank check with little return on investment. Save overtime costs and go to a 40 hour 5 day week. Put more ambulances on the street. Teach the EMTs to be big girls and boys and stop needing a police officer and/or fire truck to each and every nose bleed, knee scrape and twisted ankle and handle it themselves. We need a freeze on hiring firefighters.

  26. 8:10 You must be a dumbass!! you said "If you work here you should live here" THE ONLY REASON that FF's and Cops are forced to live in the city limits is because if they lived outside the city limits their unions couldnt intimidate their members to vote for UNION and City CORRUPTION!! You must live inside the city limits to vote for city bullshit, that is the ONLY FUCKING reason there are residency requirments!! Grow the the fuck you moron!!

  27. 8:55 you have a dick so thats gross! Fab 5 is in town, cant wait to see them rescue a FF like Extreme Home Makeover did! You hose draggers are a joke!!

  28. 4:01 - "Once or twice a month"? Come on dumbass they go to the grocery store each and every shift, and the bar every day they are off. They tell their wives they are pulling a "overtime" shift when really they are sucking a dick, or taking it in the ass, and when their wife calls the station while working that "overtime shift" their gay co worker who just got sucked off by the wife's FF husband covers for him, meanwhile the the blonde FF's wife is frustrated because she wants a real man and unlike her FF man she is loyal.

    ReplyDelete
  29. ^^^ Shut up dude! I get tons of FF wife pussy!! they are lonely, and once the kids go to bed and the hero faggot is at work I farm that sweet pussy!! The FF wives love big dick, and they love swallowing a real hose, which is why my phone gets blown up on A shift, B shift, and C shift. I guess I am Deuce Bigalow, Male gigolo, no sirens on my watch, just screams of pleasure while her man trolls for young pussy on the plaza! Hey fire fucks they game works both ways and dont hate, just think of Kharma before you imagine how I am pile driving your wife, you earned it and she loves it...have a nice shift asshole!
