TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! FREEDOM, INC. POLITICOS RALLY BEHIND EXEC FRANK WHITE AMID RISING PROTEST AGAINST JACKSON COUNTY PROPERTY TAX CRISIS!!!

Just a bit of inside baseball is important in the discussion of the largest proposed tax hike in Kansas City history.

To wit . . .

FREEDOM, INC. SUPPORTERS HOPE TO DOWNPLAY THE IMPACT OF PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT HIKES IN AN EFFORT TO BOLSTER THE FADING POLITICAL FORTUNES OF EXEC FRANK WHITE!!!

In recent meetings to organize protest, media events and a potential recall . . . Freedom, Inc. supporters have attempted to quiet members of the Latino community and explain how Latino leadership simply "don't understand" the home valuation process.

They have also echoed a sentiment from Exec White that he is simply "following the law" despite the requirement for in-person "physical assessments" in order to justify the increases.

There's evidence that the assessment hikes have hit all of the urban core but valuations in the Westside & Northeast seem to be targeting the Latino community in particular. So far, Freedom, Inc. has shown very little concern or willingness to join with Latino activists in order to express opposition to the disproportionate increases. In fact, most of the leadership on the issue has come from members of the Clergy and the SCLC  and recently City Councilman Brandon Ellington -- All of who are not always aligned with Freedom, Inc.

Again, this is all behind the scenes inside baseball but might help to explain why Mayor Quinton Lucas has remained silent on the property tax increase topic whilst still steering clear of established Latino leaders and instead attending smaller family gatherings in order to practice his Spanish.

  2. To me, the assessment process is the weakest part of the case here. If they are not allowed to raise taxes without a physical assessment and that wasn't done, then the process is invalid.

And I disagree with TKC, houses on the east side were impacted too.

  3. Well well, looks like freedom inc is about to lose some free county money if they lose the tax assessment debacle. That’s all this is about, them not getting money. They don’t give one shit about anybody but themselves.

  4. They are protecting the Assessor, Gail McCann Beatty, who was on the board for Freedom, Inc. This is her fuck up, and Frank White doesn't know how to manage his office.

  5. 3:19, I looked and could not find anything in Missouri law that requires a physical assessment in all cases. I think it's a red herring.

  8. Another reason to oust Frank White. By process of elimination, we get rid of Gail Beatty too. Throw a rock... freedom inc hollered.
