TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY TRUMAN MEDICAL CENTER WORKERS RALLY FOR UNION TODAY!!!

Here's the latest word in an ongoing local labor fight . . .

RIGHT NOW WORKERS ARE ORGANIZING TO PROTEST FOR UNION RIGHTS AT KANSAS CITY'S TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZED TRUMAN MEDICAL CENTER!!!

Here's the word FIRST on TKC . . .

Hundreds of Patient Care Techs, Medical Health Techs, Lab workers, and Certified Medical Techs at Truman medical Centers in Kansas City have taken steps to organize a union, joining fellow TMC workers already united in SEIU Healthcare Missouri. Workers want a seat at the table and a voice on the job to address issues like workplace safety, short staffing and respect from management.

Join frontline workers at TMC who provide critical healthcare services to members of our community as we call on CEO Charlie Shields to recognize their demand for union recognition and end union busting techniques aimed at undermining worker organizing.

The call to action and mobilizing RIGHT NOW at 23rd & Holmes KCMO:

"Show your support for workers as they remind management that TMC relies on our tax dollars, it is our hospital, and now is the time for hospital leadership to hear workers' voices!"

  5. Unfortunately the union they need is not the one trying to represent them. The SEIU is the weakest union in the country. Hotel maids, bartenders, service employees including janitors and maintenance workers. How many of them have high paying jobs and great benefits thanks to the SEIU? None of them. These are the lowest paying jobs because of the required skills to get these jobs. They work nights and weekends without overtime.
The list of skills are: breathing, preferably without a respirator. I think these are good people but I think the Union organization trying to organize them is horrible and taking advantage of them. The SEIU takes the dues from the workers paychecks and never deliver on improvement of their lives. Typical democrat organization.

  6. What sucks is that Kansas City is getting screwed on both ends. One of the highest paid CEOs in the metro just retired. He was the highest earner at a so-called "non-profit" Truman Medical Center. He made $2.2 million right before he retired.

Last year hospital made $575 million in revenue.

  7. Kansas City Health Levy raises anywhere from 31 million to 50 million every year.

What does Mayor Quinton Lucas say about this? I'm guessing he's not going to challenge anybody on this issue like he hides on most issues.

  12. Just another day in the medical industrial racket.

  13. This rally for the union was the turning point for most of the hospitals in Kansas City. Well-adopted hospital systems must be centralized.
