TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE FRANK WHITE ASKS FOR LEGISLATURE & JEFF CITY HELP AMID PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT CRISIS!!!

Let's not forget that most politicos read TKC loyally . . . And following our last post (about 10 minutes later) about this politico's waning popularity, we notice a change in tone and a shift in tactics.

Here's the news:

Jackson County Executive requests legislative action on reassessments

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Today, Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. sent the attached correspondence to the Chair of the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee requesting that the County Legislature use its lobbyist to develop a plan for common-sense reforms to the state-mandated reassessment process.

“The Legislature has a lobbyist to advocate on its behalf in Jefferson City and recommend strategic solutions to critical issues that are in the best interest of the County,” said Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. “We have heard the concerns of our citizens and now is the time to act if we want to see real change before the 2021 biennial real property reassessment process.”

Recommendations for reform include protecting seniors, low and middle income property owners and those in neighborhoods with widespread gentrification from the impacts of increasing property values. The letter also recommends that the County Legislature’s lobbyist fight for adequate funding from the state to assess business, residential and agricultural properties. Currently, the state reimburses the County only $3 per parcel of property, the lowest allowed under state law and half of what the County once received.

A copy of the correspondence to the Chair of the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee is attached.

    2. ^^^ I don't think it's so much of a backtrack as it as blame shift.

Let the Missouri Legislature take the blame for whatever happens. If he dumps it in their lap then he's not on the hook for it and he can just blame for the Republicans for everything that goes wrong. A good page from Sly's old play book.

The real question is, has the damage already been done?

  8. Maybe the county would not need the state to fund all these positions if Frank wasn't wasting so much on trails, legal fees for pointless lawsuits he filed against the county legislature, more legal fees and settlements for suits he's caused to be filed against the county for negligence running the jail and for firing employees who would not break the law, then there's his crackerjack PR team, his arrogant but totally incompetent chief of staff who makes about 160K now, and others he keeps on the payroll because they excel only at sucking up.

  9. White really doesn't want to hear what the most appropriate "strategic solutions" are.
    Number one: He should resign.
Elect an incompetent because he's a baseball player.
Let him hire incompetent people because they're friends and supporters of his.
And then wonder why the most basic responsibilities of county government can't be accomplished.
Jackson County voters are dupes and sheep to be shorn.
    It never changes.

  14. They sell people’s property each year who didn’t pay their property tax. Last week it was at the Courthouse in Independence, next week it will be on the courthouse steps in KC. Imagine how big the sale will be in two years!
