Suburban Slap Fight: Johnson County Community College Lesson In Socialism?!?

I've come to the conclusion that middle-class politics is mostly just MAGA drunk uncles trolling progressive angry aunties who push back with soul-crushing rebukes like some twisted modern day Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolf played out via social media with emojis, memes and 4rd rate photography.

Here's the newspaper pretending that it's journalism:

Could Democrats pushing free tuition take control of Johnson County Community College?

  1. Socialism removes much of the motivation to be your best in life. Everything being handed to you creats a lazy citizen. Inovation and inventiveness will slow down. Society becomes a bland tapestry of under achievers and bums.

  2. ^^^ All of that's true. But capitalism has also encouraged corporations to behave in the very worst manner and act as predators against humankind. Like those pharmaceutical companies who pour billions of pills into communities and turn the population in junkies in the name of profit.

No economic system is perfect, they all have their flaws. Most modern countries like the U.S. are a mix of many systems.

    1. Because the price of college is increasing 8 times faster than wages according Forbes and recent studies.

Also, if you went college back in the 60s, 70s or 80s. The costs were less than half of what they are today.

Have you done any research about your positions? Maybe you didn't learn as much in college as you thought @6:18.

  4. Hell, Tennessee has free junior college, why can't Kansas. In the 1970s it took working 103 hours at a minimum wage job to pay for a year of college, now it takes over 4,000 hours at a minimum wage job to pay for a year of college.

Imagine the Communist Horror of free schooling!

Why, if it wasn't for Kindergarten Tuition, every child of every class in this Country might have the opportunity to be able to read and write just as well as their "betters"!

This concept strikes at the very core of American Life - why, the next thing you know these Evil Commies will be calling for something as stupid as "Liberty and Justice for all"!

  6. 6:32 thats a weak statement.
I went to school in the 70's and trust me it was costly. Salaries back then are not close to what people can make now days. Minimum wage was also less that $2.50 per hour. When I started my career job in 1972 I worked 50 hours a week on avg and was paid on the first of every month the whopping salary of $700.00. Sure my salary increased in time due to cost of living and promotions but that same job today has a avg starting wage of app $3.800 a month.

I know of kids working their butts off and not falling into the student loan trap to get their educations in this day and age same as I and many others did 50 plus years ago. Plus it also depends on what education you are getting. I over the years seen so many people get a costly education in one field to walk away from it in less than 5 years after deciding they didn't like it. To me that's like buying a new car driving it a couple of weeks and just leaving it by the roadside because you decide you don't like it. Least with a car you can sell it to someone but an education you paid for can't be sold to another later on if you don't like it.

Yes education is high today same as it was high for us 50 years ago.

  7. ^^OMG..stop! Just Stop! You are so dumb...so dumb! You have zero idea what you're talking about. Education IS NOT THE SAME as it was 50 years ago dolt!!! Apparently, you never went to school or you would understand that! God, you are so dumb! Now I get you are ridiculed for all of your dumb posts!

This is because the majority of students major in gender studies, art appreciation, my feelings are hurt, sociology and a host of other feel good worthless majors.

  11. ^^You idiots Dave clearly is referring to the costs of an education being as costly 50 years ago as it was 100 years before that. College has never ever been cheap and never ever will be.

  12. These screwed up liberals can push free tuition all they want I'm not paying for it. When or if that happens it's time to get paid under the table. Stupid freeloaders go to school and learn nothing. Hell college students can't even count change back!

  14. If college is too expensive for the average student, make college cheaper. Lay off administrative staff, get rid of useless programs and courses, ask the professors to teach more and fund fewer extracurricular groups. That for a start.

  15. ^^Ugh huh. Thanks, now please go back to whatever is you do??

  16. Wow! @ 615, 632, 633, 641, 748, 809, You are all the same person or we have a crisis in education and we do need to pay for it. The truth is that except for this one whack job we all agree that education, college education, is and always has consumed a lot of money. If not everyone would go to free college to learn how to Decoupage like so many of the liberal millennials do now. They are stupid enough to get costly student loans that include paying for a $1500 a month apartment, having food delivered to your door instead of fixing it yourself. Yes education has changed and it should keep up with the science, technology, Engineering and Manufacturing of today. The problem then comes from the politicians telling these heads full of mush that it is OK to have the government provide everything for you for free. I'll never buy into that line of thinking because by the time I was six years old I knew that Santa Claus didn't really exist. These idiots haven't realized that yet. I do not support everything for free.
The American dream is not a "Free for All", it is an "Opportunity for All" thing where you have the opportunity to be as successful as you strive to be and you get what you earn. That is the American way!

  17. @ 8:47. Bravo! Have any of the free college group ever figured out who is going to pay for their free? The cost of professor and educator salaries and the buildings, the heat and air conditioning, water, sewer, electricity, janitorial services, building maintenance, books or apps or computer programs and etc? You people will find out when you finally mature in your thinking that nothing, let me repeat NOTHING is free. You don't and won't work for free and I don't and won't work for free. As 8:47 says, Santa Claus isn't real. Time to grow up buttercup.

  20. Super Dave = Disconnected Dave.

College Cost increases have vastly outpaced salary growth. When Dave was in college (assuming he went, which may be a stretch), one could wait tables or work while attending and go debt free. THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE NOW. You can work and offset the cost but an average student is going to come out with some debt.

I know people like to bitch about administration costs and what not driving up the cost of college but the primary driver is the lack of funding from states these days.

I am not in favor of free college as I think every kid should have some skin in the game. I am in favor of bringing college costs back in line with the rest of metrics of growth in our society. I have a kid getting ready to head off here soon and it's pretty damn expensive and she's getting academic scholarships.

You need to understand that you're an idiot and a lot of other people think so too. Sorry to bust your bubble, but that's the truth! Carry on responding anonymously to your own posts too. We all know it's you, you're dumb enough not to know that you post in a broken, stunted syntax that is unique to you.
