Once again we notice that it's weird to see so many Jackson County Sheriffs on urban core streets . . . Here's their latest adventure . . .

KANSAS CITY SCOOTER STOP ENDS IN SHOCKING LADY SHOOTING!!!
 Deets:

Jackson County Deputies were in the area conducting saturation patrols when two people were driving a scooter, going the wrong way, near 43rd and Oak.

According the sheriff's office the cruiser and the scooter collided, between 41st and 43rd and Oak. The driver of the scooter was taken into custody without incident, but the female passenger got into a struggle with a female deputy when she fired her gun, hitting the suspect. At some point during the struggle a tazer was deployed. The female suspect took off running, but deputies were able to find her hiding near some apartments by following a blood trail.

    1. ^^^ they aren't the first people to want to shoot people riding scooters. But I'm glad the woman involved is probably going to be okay.

    2. Gunfire Summer.

This is probably a good warning to so many of our "creative class" as things get more violent it's clear that law enforcement is also under stress. Best not to mess with them because they won't have a lot of patience and you might find yourself hauled in or shot.

That's the thing about life in KC. You don't just have to worry about the thugs, you also have to mind your Ps & Qs around police too. Because they're just as pissed.

  6. Scooter patrol really a reason to shoot somebody?

Sounds like police are in the wrong. We don't need law enforcement wasting time on scooter offenses.

  7. Hey, FreaK C @8:43, which part about the passenger "got into a struggle" with the popo challenges your comprehension abilities, or did you bother to read the incidents, as reported, above? Warning: Struggle=Ass Is 99.9% Sure Getting Shot

  8. Sounds like you are stupid

  9. Police have rules and they are not above the law. Police must have justification for a search. The officer clearly overreacted and I'm sure a jury in Jackson County will agree.

  13. @9:09 - I'm simply that this is another instance where the county could be forced to make another huge payout for the actions of one of its employees. If we are nation of laws then the police must obey them as well and I'm confident that when a jury sees this stop was instigated because of a scotter, they will side with the plaintiff. It's important for everyone to realize that the jury system plays a role in our laws and police should not play judge, jury and executioner.

  18. 9:14, the story is so poorly written that it is hard to tell what happened. The passenger "got into a struggle" with the cop, who was in the process of arresting the scooter driver. I will guess that the passenger physically interfered in the arrest. Passenger tasers cop, cop shoots passenger in leg. Sounds like the passenger's fault to me. She will get one heck of a slap on the wrist!

  19. Passenger has been identified as Bitchshotme Jones, a 22 year old Lincoln High School Junior, single mother of seven, who was turning her life around.

A vigil to protest the Deputy defending herself will be held at the Church Of Whuzzat at 2:37am tomorrow, participants are asked to bring their preferred booze, plus a little extra for the Reverend.
T-shirts and balloons will be provided if the City gets the Church's money to them on time.

  20. I'm not sure why the Sheriff's Department is conducting saturation patrols in the west plaza area. Sure, they have the authority, and the area is horribly underserved by KCPD.....but why there?
