Sensors Track 'Smart' Kansas City

Spy tech promo touted as a better way to keep track of continually old & busted local streets. Take a look:

Kansas City Tries to Go from Smart Strip to Smart City | Digital Trends

Your city is dumb. The potholed streets, coin-operated parking meters, and drafty brick buildings many of us interact with every day haven't changed much in a century. But it's finally happening. From Oslo to San Diego, cities across the globe are installing technology to gather data in the hopes of saving money, becoming cleaner, reducing traffic, and improving urban life.

  1. But in between the "data" and reality, where most people actually live, you need serious, intelligent, responsible elected people who can set appropriate priorities and demand accountability for results.
Plus you need competent capable managers who can plan, organize, and supervise the workforce required to meet residents' needs.
And you need competent motivated well-trained workers to see the jobs through to completion.
    Otherwise "data" gets you nowhere.
Use those very practical criteria to rank KCMO.
    Sad.

  2. Tech - Buy our shit. Otherwise your dumb.

Never ceases to amaze me how stupid city officials here are when the snake oil salesmen come into town from SV.

  3. So in other words Kansas City has to be a copy cat city? I wouldn't copy anything out of San Diego. Leave our city alone we need to eliminate some of the outsiders who have come in and polluted it. Keeping our city as the cowtown it is will hopefully run them off.

Since KCMO is so smart the KCMO's smart sewer system should not allow flooding.

  5. I can tell you a low-tech solution that works on one problem.
Florescent Spray Paint applied as an outline around potholes in the street gets KCPSD workers out to fix the holes and cover the paint up really fast.

  6. 11:56 thats actually a great Idea!! Now we just need to figure out a fundraiser so the paint doesnt cost the tax payer a dime and get the streets painted up so we can get the attention of the city leaders!!!! One shit street with a ton of paint for a city government whos priorities are backwords while are cars are beat to shit on the roads are taxes are supposed to keep drivable.....hmmmm imagine if that story went viral!! we might have new streets by Wednesday.
