KCPD chief draws link between policy, public safety
KANSAS CITY, MO. - As the homicide count continues to climb, the police chief in Kansas City, Missouri, is connecting the dots between public policy and public safety in the state of Missouri. In a posted Thursday afternoon, KCPD Chief Rick Smith pointed to the fact that individuals must attend a safety education course and obtain a license to hunt an animal in Missouri.
The Chief's post on Thursday had a very common sense approach regarding PUNISHMENT. Maybe his few words on this topic of PUNISHMENT as intended to render appropriate JUSTICE for crimes involving GUNS. He points to those established PUNISHMENTS would very likely serve as DETERRENCE to those considering criminal use of guns. Hey, he just might be giving prosecutor JPB a BIGLY HINT that she should STEP UP to help do what it takes to get SERIOUS with PROVIDING PUBLIC SAFETY!!!!!! Since, ya know, THAT IS a major function of the PROSECUTOR'S JOB!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile firearms safety training would probably prevent some of the murders that occur in the urban core, the only place where you might possibly find enough urban youth together for such training is school. Getting schools to teach something as practical as gun safety isn't likely.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the same violent felons, who can't legally possess a firearm, are going to rush out and enroll in safety training for those firearms they can't legally possess.

Let's pass a law that says before any person may use a stolen gun he (usually a he) has to report for firearms training. We want him to learn to reload efficiently.
