A look at momentum across the street as more people stand up against assessments they claim don't follow the rules which demand a physical inspection. Here's today's argument . . .
Renewed calls for overhaul of Jackson County Property Assessment
JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -- The county is doubling down and clearly preparing to process more than 30,000 appeals. They are raising salaries and hiring more people to process appeals. But here's an interesting point, more than 30,000 people have filed some sort of an appeal.
30,000 appeals... that number outpaces the folks who show up to vote at the polls in most Kansas City elections.
ReplyDeleteThe property assessment is a political hack job all the way. Still believe SLie had his hands meddling in this mess.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they should start a buyback program.
ReplyDeleteProperty owners are getting exactly what they deserve. They wanted values to rise.
ReplyDeleteThey will have to prove their cases. If the assessments were based on faulty methodology, then all reassessments will be voided. If they vary in accuracy from property to property, then each property owner will have to show how theirs is not right. So far all I'm hearing is a lot of bluster with little to no common theme. Looking forward to more drama. Pass the popcorn.
ReplyDeleteThey're raising salaries and they're using our property tax increases to pay for the raises.
ReplyDeleteSo they are giving raises to the incompetent employees who screwed up our assessments?
ReplyDeleteFire Gail Beatty... and her husband from the City. Chase these losers out of Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteYou cant fix CORRUPTION in KCMO!!! Good Luck
