PROPERTY TAX NEWSFLASH: JACKSON COUNTY APPRAISERS UNCERTIFIED!!!

One more not-so-fun fact which reaveals this entire process is a joke as we all patiently wait for the Feds to clean up the mess at the Courthouse.

Checkit:

Mostly noncertified appraisers used for 2019 Jackson County assessments

PROPERTY VALUES. NOTHING IN THE COMMERCIAL DATA MAKES ANY SENSE AT ALL. NOTHING DOES. WILLIAM: CURTIS KOONS WAS JACKSON COUNTY'S DIRECTOR OF ASSESSMENT 7 YEARS AND HAD THE SAME ROLE IN CASS COUNTY FOR 11. NOW, HE HELPS APPEAL VALUES FOR PEOPLE. I'VE LOOKED AT THE NUMBERS.

Comments

  1. Why should this be a surprise?
The rest of the courthouse is chock full of incompetent and unqualified people, starting with Frank White and the legislators.
Wouldn't want to mess up the mix by adding some certified capable employees!
    Next up?
The ongoing saga of the Jackson County jail.

  2. "Mostly noncertified appraisers used for 2019 Jackson County assessments"

Let's see. The county did not have access to MLS because it wouldn't spring for the $2,000 subscription fee, and now we learn the appraisers weren't certified.

Could this reassessment have possibly been more FUBAR?

  3. Some smart lawyer whose home got appraised at an extremely high value will file a class action lawsuit and win.

  4. ^^^What would be the putative class? Smart lawyers whose homes got appraised at an extremely high value? That will not fly.

The fact that some of the appraisers were not certified does not, by itself, mean that the appraisals were inaccurate or even that the appraisers were not capable.
